emerged as one of the most important pathogens that causes nosocomial infections due to its increased multidrug resistance. Identifying capsular epidemiology in can aid in the development of effective treatments and preventive measures against this emerging pathogen. Here we established a -based method, and combined it with -PCR to determine capsular types of causing nosocomial bacteraemia collected at two medical centres in Taiwan from 2015 to 2017. Among the 237 patients with bacteraemia, 98 (41.4%) isolates were resistant to carbapenems. Four prevalent capsular types (KL2, KL10, KL22, and KL52) accounted for 84.7% of carbapenem-resistant (CRAB) and 12.2% of non-CRAB. The rate of pneumonia, intensive care unit admission, APACHE II score, and Pitt bacteraemia score were higher in patients with KL2/10/22/52 infection than in those with non-KL2/10/22/52 infection. Patients with KL2/10/22/52 infection and patients with CRAB infection have a higher cumulative incidence of attributable and all-cause in-hospital 30-day mortality. On multivariate analysis, appropriate empirical antimicrobial therapy within 24 h was associated with a lower risk of 30-day attributable mortality in the KL2/10/22/52 isolates (odds ratio = 0.19, 95% CI: 0.06-0.66, = 0.008) but not in non-KL2/10/22/52 isolates. Early recognition of carbapenem resistance-associated capsular types may help clinicians to promptly implement appropriate antimicrobial therapy for improving the outcomes in patients with CRAB bacteraemia.

Background: The insertion of implants and tip plasties has been performed in Asian patients for an attractive and higher nasal profile, which can result in diverse tip deformations such as notching, pinching, alar retraction, incompetent external valve, deviated tip, cephalic rotation, and lateral crus malposition due to inappropriate manipulation of the lower lateral cartilage and/or silicone capsular contracture. This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness and utility of applying lateral crural strut graft (LCSG) as a consistent and appropriate surgical method to correct various nasal tip deformities that occur as complications following rhinoplasty in Asian patients.
Methods: We prospectively studied 37 patients with a minimum follow-up of 12 months among 53 patients who underwent secondary rhinoplasty, including LCSG, between January 2016 and December 2020.

Introduction: Carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) is a major cause of nosocomial infections with high mortality rates. Persistent bacteremia, indicative of treatment failure, poses significant clinical challenges. This study aimed to identify clinical parameters for persistent CRKP bacteremia while exploring microbial and genetic characteristics.

Background: Group B (GBS) infection among pregnant women is a major risk factor for a significant proportion of early-onset disease and late-onset disease in infants worldwide; however, data on the epidemiological features of GBS in Vietnam are very limited.
Objectives: To determine the prevalence, potential risk factors, and serotype distribution of GBS isolates isolated from rectovaginal specimens of Vietnamese pregnant women.
Design: Cross-sectional study.

Background: Streptococcus pneumoniae (Spn) and severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) are important pathogens. We evaluated the frequency and density of Spn in nasopharyngeal samples, frequency of multiple respiratory virus detection, mucosal cytokine/chemokine levels, and mucosal antibody levels to Spn proteins and capsular polysaccharides during SARS-CoV-2 respiratory infections in children.
Methods: This retrospective study evaluated 222 nasopharyngeal samples collected from children (age 0-18 years) who were tested for SARS-CoV-2 between May 2020 and October 2021.

Background And Hypothesis: Evidence from the VALIGA IgA nephropathy (IgAN) cohort supports the clinical value of subclassifying focal segmental glomerulosclerosis lesions (S). Our study aimed to validate and explore the clinical significance of S subclassification in an Asian population.
Methods: A total of 746 patients with IgAN were retrospectively included.
