Background: Delayed discharge among older patients presents a major challenge for the efficiency of health service delivery. Prolonged hospitalizations limit bed turnover, increase costs, and reduce the availability of hospital resources. In Japan, older adults must undergo a formal care needs certification process to access public long-term care (LTC) services.

The aim of this study was to assess current practices and compare outcomes for patients with locally advanced oesophageal squamous cell carcinoma across the UK and Ireland.
Methods: This was a retrospective multicentre cohort study of patients managed with curative intent for squamous cell carcinoma of the middle or distal oesophagus in 23 hospitals across the UK and Ireland.

Introduction: Neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) are a priority in the public health agenda for Côte d'Ivoire, with persons living with disabilities due to NTDs (PD-NTDs) experiencing many challenges in their daily lives. Current policies do not sufficiently support PD-NTDs, thereby highlighting the need to identify opportunities for policy improvement.
Methods: This study was carried out in two phases: first to identify the current needs (formative phase) and then to develop a pilot strategy (implementation phase).

Background: Borealpox virus (previously known as Alaskapox virus) is an Orthopoxvirus species first identified in a patient living near Fairbanks, Alaska, in 2015; the source of the patient's infection was unknown. Six additional borealpox cases have been identified through 2023.
Methods: We conducted interviews to ascertain travel history and potential exposures for the six patients, trapped small mammals for orthopoxvirus testing, and performed a phylogenetic analysis of viral DNA sequences.

Objectives: Individuals with dementia often experience stigmatisation and social exclusion. To develop dementia-friendly communities, it is important to take a life-course approach to enhance the perception of dementia in the general population. Currently, we lack an overall understanding of adolescent perceptions of dementia.
