Background: Radically resected early uterine leiomyosarcoma (eULMS) is still marked by a poor prognosis. Adjuvant strategies investigated up to now have not been corroborated by controlled studies. We retrospectively reviewed the clinical outcome of eULMS patients treated with adjuvant anthracycline-based or gemcitabine-based chemotherapy at two Italian reference centers.
Methods: In this explorative, retrospective, cohort analysis, we included all the consecutive patients with radically resected eULMS treated at two centers between 1997 and 2017.
Results: A total of 109 consecutive patients were included. Sixty-six (60%) received an anthracycline-based regimen, whereas 43 (40%) received a gemcitabine-based regimen. Median disease-free survival (DFS) was 41.3 months with anthracycline-based regimens compared to 20.9 months with gemcitabine-based regimens (HR: 0.49; 95% CI: 0.30-0.80; = 0.004). In the multivariable model, anthracycline-based regimens were independently associated with a better DFS. No difference in terms of overall survival was observed.
Conclusions: DFS was not the same by using an anthracycline-based or a gemcitabine-based adjuvant chemotherapy for patients with radically resected eULMS. The results of our study are in line with recent prospective controlled evidence in limb and superficial trunk soft tissue sarcomas. The role of anthracycline-based adjuvant chemotherapy should still be viewed as a research issue in eULMS.

Background: We report on a series of consecutive patients with localized radiation-associated angiosarcoma (RAAS) of the breast region (BR) treated at two Italian sarcoma reference centers.
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively reviewed all cases of primary, localized, resectable RAAS of the BR, treated at one of the two participating institutions from 2000 to 2019. Relapse-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) were calculated.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare the antitumor efficacy of anlotinib with gemcitabine-based chemotherapy as subsequent treatment regimens in patients with advanced non-specific soft tissue sarcoma (STS) after the failure of anthracycline-based chemotherapy.
Methods: Patients diagnosed with advanced STS who were treated with either anlotinib or gemcitabine-based chemotherapy between May 2009 and May 2023 in our center were eligible. All patients experienced disease progression or recurrence after the anthracycline-based chemotherapy.

To investigate the efficacy and safety of the combination therapy with chemotherapy, programmed death-1 (PD-1) inhibitor and anlotinib in the treatment of advanced dedifferentiated liposarcoma (DDLPS). The clinical data of patients with dedifferentiated liposarcoma who received chemotherapy combined with PD-1 inhibitor and anlotinib in the Department of Medical Oncology, Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University from January 1, 2020 to November 30, 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. A total of 24 patients were included in this study, including 12 males and 12 females, with a median age of onset of 56 years (range, 31-69 years).

Management of leiomyosarcoma is based on the specifics of each individual case. Specifically, the location of the disease and whether the disease is metastatic or localized and if localized disease, whether the tumor is resectable or unresectable. In patients with recurrent or metastatic disease, factors such as disease-free interval and pattern of spread should be considered within the context of treatment planning.
