Article Abstract

The developed countries of the world were ill-prepared for the pandemic that they have suffered. When we compare developed to developing countries, the sophisticated parameters we use do not necessarily address the weaknesses in the healthcare systems of developed countries that make them susceptible to crises like the present pandemic. We strongly suggest that better preparation for such events is necessary for a country to be considered developed.

Background: According to the Council of International Organizations and Medical Sciences (CIOMS) 2016, post-trial access (PTA) refers to the ethical imperative that requires the sponsor, researchers, and relevant public health authority, "to make available as soon as possible any intervention or product developed, and knowledge generated, for the population or community in which the research is carried out." Law, policy, and practical guidance for PTA has so far been vague but has recently attracted and increased attention in the context of benefit sharing of scientific research results with low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).Although the number of clinical trials conducted in the Sub Saharan (SSA) countries has increased in the past two decades, plans and practices for PTA are underreported.

Purpose: Hormonal contraceptives are linked to a higher prevalence of depressive symptoms. Given their popularity in Western countries, understanding the biochemical effects on neuronal cells is crucial to minimizing mental health risks.

Experimental Design: Neural progenitor cells were treated with ethinyl estradiol (EE) and levonorgestrel (LNG), two synthetic sex hormones commonly used in oral contraception, and S-23, a selective androgen receptor modulator developed as a potential synthetic sex hormone for male hormonal contraception.

Ketamine is a highly effective treatment for difficult-to-treat or treatment-resistant depression (TRD). The commercially developed intranasal spray containing S-ketamine has demonstrated short and long-term efficacy and safety in phase 3 clinical trials leading to regulatory approval for TRD in many countries. Conversely, generic racemic ketamine is prescribed 'off-label'.

Background: The increasing prevalence of dermatological diseases will pose a growing challenge to the health care system and, in particular, to general practitioners (GPs) as the first point of contact for these patients. In many countries, primary care physicians are supported by teledermatology services.

Objective: The aim of this study was to detect learning effects and gains among GPs through teledermatology consultations (TCs) in daily practice.

Transdiagnostic group interventions address the limitations of youth mental health care services, including the disorder-specific nature of existing treatments and the limited capacity of individual psychotherapies. This review synthesizes the 1) characteristics, applications, parental involvement, patient and public involvement (PPI), and 2) data on efficacy, adherence, safety and treatment satisfaction evidence of transdiagnostic group interventions for children and adolescents. Following PRISMA guidelines, a preregistered systematic literature search identified 6845 publications on transdiagnostic in-person group-based interventions for children and adolescents (mean age ≤ 18 years).
