The present study analyzed the comprehension of visual narrative in a group of twelve children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Their performances were compared to a control group of fifteen children with typical development (TD) matched for age, level of formal education, and IQ. Visual narrative comprehension was assessed by administering a task that required children to understand narrative's global coherence by arranging in the correct order the constituent parts of stories presented in pictures. Specifically, the task evaluated children's ability to grasp how single events connected (causally and temporally) each other and how these connections led to the ending of the story. Results showed that children with ASD obtained significantly lower scores than children with TD. These results open to alternative interpretations of narrative impairments often reported in individuals with ASD, which might not be restricted to the linguistic code but stem from a deeper deficit in narrative processing that is independent from the expressive modality.

This article explores the representation of female sexuality in later life through the lens of three contemporary Spanish films: La vida era eso (2020), Destello bravío (2021), and Mamacruz (2023). Drawing from feminist aging studies, film theory, and concepts such as haptic visuality and clitoral sexuality, the study challenges the patriarchal, ageist, and phallocentric narratives that have long shaped cultural understandings of older women's erotic lives. Through close readings of these films, the article demonstrates how they subvert the dominant heteronormative gaze by foregrounding sensory pleasure, autoeroticism, and the reawakening of desire in older women.

The advancement of Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) has enabled significant progress in multi-modal understanding, expanding their capacity to analyze video content. However, existing evaluation benchmarks for MLLMs primarily focus on abstract video comprehension, lacking a detailed assessment of their ability to understand video compositions, the nuanced interpretation of how visual elements combine and interact within highly compiled video contexts. We introduce VidComposition, a new benchmark specifically designed to evaluate the video composition understanding capabilities of MLLMs using carefully curated compiled videos and cinematic-level annotations.
