Background: Hypertension is a primary risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD). Tianma Gouteng decoction (TGD), originating from Zabingzhengzhixinyi, has been used for thousands of years in China to treat hypertension, giddiness, and migraine. This updated meta-analysis aimed at assessing the efficacy and safety of TGD combined with nifedipine in the treatment of primary hypertension.
Methods: Related research published prior to September 1, 2019, was found in electronic databases without language limitations. Fourteen studies were selected and analyzed for specified criteria, including the quality of the studies. All outcomes were recorded exhaustive. Data management and analysis were performed using RevMan 5.3 software.
Results: A total of 1,537 (769 cases in the experimental group and 768 cases in the control group) patients were enrolled. The total efficacy rate was improved significantly for the combination of nifedipine with TGD compared to nifedipine treatment alone ( = 22%, RR = 1.17, and 95% CI: 1.12 to 1.22). Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) symptoms of patients were obviously improved in the experimental group than in the control group ( = 22%, RR = 1.17, and 95% CI: 1.12 to 1.22). Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) symptoms of patients were obviously improved in the experimental group than in the control group ( = 22%, RR = 1.17, and 95% CI: 1.12 to 1.22). Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) symptoms of patients were obviously improved in the experimental group than in the control group ( < 0.00001) when two studies (shicaihong 2017 and xiaoyugao 2017) were removed. And the results of DBP showed no heterogeneity ( = 22%, RR = 1.17, and 95% CI: 1.12 to 1.22). And the results of DBP showed no heterogeneity (.
Conclusion: The combination of TGD and nifedipine has a better effect in the treatment of hypertension, including blood pressure lowering and patients' TCMs improving. However, our findings must be handled with care because of the small sample size and low quality of clinic trials cited. Other rigorous and large-scale RCTs are in need to confirm these results.

In pig production, weaning is a critical period where piglets face several environmental stressors. This transition leads to a significant growth reduction and can result in digestive disorders, including diarrhea. To formulate a feed that meets zinc (Zn) and copper (Cu) requirements during the weaning period while minimizing their release into the environment, it became evident that a more bioavailable micro-mineral supplement is necessary.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disorder characterized by joint inflammation. Given the side effects of conventional treatments, this study focuses on the anti-inflammatory effects of purslane (Portulaca oleracea) and turmeric (Curcuma longa). The research is driven by the growing demand for plant based-treatment for safer therapeutic options for RA management.

Myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury (MIRI) worsens ischemic damage, with ferroptosis as a key mediator of this iron-dependent cell death. Lactylation, a novel epigenetic modification, remains poorly understood in MIRI-associated ferroptosis. This study aimed to elucidate the mechanistic link between lactylation and ferroptosis in MIRI.

Acute or chronic liver damage can result in Hepatic Encephalopathy (HE), a potentially fatal neuropsychiatric condition that leads to cerebral and neurological alterations. Dapagliflozin (DAPA), an orally active Sodium/Glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitor with long duration of action. The study aim was to evaluate the potential protective impact of DAPA against HE caused by Thioacetamide (TAA) in rats.

Polymer particles, including synthetic polymers such as poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and poly(styrene-co-divinylbenzene) (P(S-co-DVB)) beads, have been widely used as enzymatic supports and drug carriers. In this sense, it is important to understand the stabilization or degradation of such polymer matrices under specific chemical and enzymatic media. For this reason, the present work aims to evaluate the current status and prospects of treatments of PMMA and P(S-co-DVB) particles intended for biotechnological and biomedical applications under basic, acidic, and enzymatic environments.
