Association between transitional care in acute care hospitals and ambulatory care sensitive condition-related readmission.

Age Ageing

August 2025

Department of Nursing Health Services Research, Graduate School of Health Care Sciences, Institute of Science Tokyo, Yushima, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, Japan.

Background: Little is known about how ambulatory care sensitive condition (ACSC)-related readmissions can be reduced in acute care settings.

Objective: This study examined the association between transitional care for hospitalised older patients with ACSC and ACSC-related readmissions.

Methods: This retrospective observational cohort study included patients aged 65 years and older admitted with ACSC as the primary diagnosis from 1 April 2022 to 31 January 2023, using linked data from the Diagnosis Procedure Combination and the medical functions of the hospital beds database.

Background: Long-term outcomes of transcatheter mitral valve edge-to-edge repair (TEER) are compared with medical therapy remain under investigation. This study evaluated the 3-year effects of MitraClip on mitral regurgitation (MR) severity, ventricular remodeling, and clinical outcomes in high surgical-risk patients.

Methods: A single-center retrospective cohort included 31 MitraClip patients (2016-2023) and 30 contemporaneous controls on maximally tolerated guideline-directed medical therapy.

Exploring the Arousal Intensity in Patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea: Based on Odds Ratio Product.

Nat Sci Sleep

September 2025

Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Beijing Tongren Hospital, Capital Medical University, Beijing, People's Republic of China.

Aim: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is characterized by repetitive upper airway collapse during sleep, resulting in frequent cortical arousals. However, currently used frequency-based arousal metrics do not sufficiently capture the heterogeneity and clinical significance of arousal responses. The odds ratio product (ORP) is a novel electroencephalographic marker that provides a continuous assessment of sleep depth and has the potential to serve as an objective measure of arousal intensity.
