As one of the transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), ReS displays several outstanding properties, while the intrinsically nonmagnetic property limits its applications in spin-related devices. In this study, we selected Cr as the dopant to realize the robust room-temperature ferromagnetism in Cr-doped ReS (Cr-ReS) nanosheets. The saturation magnetization (M ) of the samples can be tuned by changing the Cr concentration. Density functional theory calculation results reveal that Cr dopant can provide the magnetic moments and stable ferromagnetic coupling in Cr-doped ReS system. This finding provides an effective approach for designing the new magnetic TMDs in spintronics devices.

Soot generated from the partial combustion of diesel significantly contributes to air pollution, and catalytic oxidation is currently an effective method for removing diesel soot particles. The chromium-doped ceria-praseodymium (Cr-CP) catalyst system is synthesized via solution combustion synthesis and evaluated for soot oxidation activity, with a subsequent kinetics study conducted. The XRD analysis of the catalysts indicated a decrease in crystallite size and increased lattice strain and reactive facet ratios for all Cr-doped CP samples.

A detailed investigation of the structural, optical and magnetic properties of Cr-doped ZnO nanostructures obtained a simple chemical method has been carried out. The structural study using X-ray powder diffraction indicates the hexagonal wurtzite structure for undoped ZnO and ZnO doped with 1% Cr, whereas the appearance of a secondary cubic phase (ZnCrO) is witnessed with the incorporation of Cr content ≥3% in the ZnO compounds. Furthermore, the secondary phase is observed to increase systematically with the increase of the Cr concentration.

The stabilization of collagen using different small molecules have been explored for the development of biomaterials. One of the most studied molecules in biomaterials research is polydopamine (PDA) due to its ability to bind to different substrates that ranges from metal surface to collagen. Similarly, in leather tanning, chromium has been an extensively used metal ion as it binds strongly with collagen and enhances its stability.

Photocatalytic dye degradation is a method of environmental degradation that is commonly used to eliminate various pollutants produced by pharmaceutical and textile industries. Herein, pure and chromium (Cr)-doped SnO nanoflakes were synthesized using a simple facile hydrothermal method and photocatalytic properties were studied under visible light illumination. In addition, photoelectrochemical (PEC) water oxidation properties were also studied using the prepared samples.

Due to their outstanding power density, long cycle life and low cost, supercapacitors have gained much interest. As for supercapacitor electrodes, molybdenum nitrides show promising potential. Molybdenum nitrides, however, are mainly prepared as nanopowders via a chemical route and require binders for the manufacture of electrodes.
