Article Abstract

A new type of supported vanadium phosphorus oxide (VPO) with self-phase regulation was simply fabricated (organic solvent free) for the first time by depositing the specific VPO precursor NH(VO)HPO onto the Siliceous Mesostructured Cellular Foams (MCF) with controlled activation. The resulting materials were found to be highly efficient and selective for sustainable acrylic acid (AA) plus methyl acrylate (MA) production via a condensation route between acetic acid (HAc) and formaldehyde (HCHO). A (AA + MA) yield of 83.7% (HCHO input-based) or a (AA + MA) selectivity of 81.7% (converted HAc-based) are achievable at 360 °C. The systematic characterizations and evaluations demonstrate a unique surface regulation occurring between the MCF and the NH(VO)HPO precursor. NH release upon activation of NH(VO)HPO precursor together with adsorption of NH by MCF automatically induces partial reduction of V whose content is fine-tunable by the VPO loading. Such a functionalization simultaneously modifies phase constitution and surface acidity/basicity of catalyst, hence readily controls catalytic performance.

Associations between element mixtures and biomarkers of pathophysiologic pathways related to autism spectrum disorder.

J Trace Elem Med Biol

September 2025

Department of Neurology, Children's Hospital of Fudan University, National Children's Medical Center, Shanghai, China. Electronic address:

Objective: We previously documented that exposure to a spectrum of elements is associated with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). However, there is a lack of mechanistic understanding as to how elemental mixtures contribute to the ASD development.

Materials And Methods: Serum and urinary concentrations of 26 elements and six biomarkers of ASD-relevant pathophysiologic pathways including serum HIPK 2, serum p53 protein, urine malondialdehyde (MDA), urine 8-OHdG, serum melatonin, and urine carnitine, were measured in 21 ASD cases and 21 age-matched healthy controls of children aged 6-12 years.

P-induced electronic modulation at the interface boosting p-d orbital coupling for high-performance vanadium flow batteries.

J Colloid Interface Sci

August 2025

State Key Laboratory of Materials Low-Carbon Recycling and Department of Chemical Engineering, Beijing University of Technology, Beijing 100124, China. Electronic address:

Vanadium flow batteries (VFBs), as a high-safety grid-scale energy storage technology, provide an ideal solution for storing green power generated from intermittent renewable energy sources. However, the sluggish kinetics of the V/V redox reaction at the negative electrode interface limits the development of VFBs toward high-rate performance. Herein, density functional theory (DFT) calculations demonstrate the feasibility of phosphorus (P) atom modulation on the electronic structure at the N, O dual-doped carbon interface.

Essential and Non-essential Elements in an Herbaceous Karst Wetland: Inputs from Urban Dust.

Wetlands play an important role in biogeochemical cycles, as their hydrological and edaphic properties drive chemical reactions that facilitate the storage or transfer of various elements. Some herbaceous wetlands are ecosystems dominated by grass-like communities, sedges and rushes, and the information available at international level reveals they are poorly studied ecosystems in terms of elemental analysis. This research seeks to contribute to the understanding of herbaceous wetlands producing an inventory of essential and non-essential elements, the latter expected to be increased from the direct interaction of the wetland with a road.

To evaluate the peri-implant bone repair of implants manufactured from commercially pure titanium (cp-Ti) or titanium-aluminum-vanadium alloy (Ti-6Al-4 V) with machined (MS) or laser-modified (LS) surfaces. Implants (n = 192) were installed in the tibias of 96 rats and divided according to the implant installed: (1) cpMS: cp-Ti with an MS surface, (2) cpLS: cp-Ti with an LS surface, (3) alloyMS: Ti-6Al-4 V with an MS surface, and (4) alloyLS: Ti-6Al-4 V with an LS surface. Scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray (SEM-EDX) analysis was performed prior to implant placement.

Artemisia and the Elements: A Botanical Symphony of Minerals and Metals.

Biol Trace Elem Res

June 2025

Department of Biological Sciences, International Islamic University Islamabad, H-10, Islamabad, 44000, Pakistan.

Artemisia species are known for their rich phytochemical diversity; however, their ability to accumulate a wide range of minerals and metals from the soil raises significant safety concerns, particularly in therapeutic and dietary contexts. This review provides data on elemental composition across 64 Artemisia species, evaluating their nutritional, medicinal and environmental implications. Data collection was carried out using various databases, including SciELO, Google Scholar, Medline, ScienceDirect, PubMed, Web of Science and Scopus.
