Thymus is an encapsulated organ having its bilateral origin from the third pharyngeal pouch. It appears to be a single organ but actually it is bilobed. It attains its maximum development at puberty and then it begins to involute. The parenchyma is replaced by adipocytes and lymphocyte production declines. Here we present a large thymus with a small area of persistent active tissue in it which was obtained during routine undergraduate dissection class. Tissues taken from different quadrants of the large thymic mass were processed, embedded in paraffin and sections were taken for hematoxylin and eosin staining which showed presence of thymic tissue in only one quadrant. Further sections from that quadrant was treated with cytokeratin to confirm its epithelial origin. Therefore knowledge of a large persistent thymus will be helpful to the radiologists and surgeons for making differential diagnosis and in avoiding unnecessary surgical intervention.

Benign lymphoepithelial tumors of salivary glands had been restricted to sebaceous and non-sebaceous (NSLA) lymphadenomas. However, salivary neoplasms recapitulating carcinoma showing thymus-like elements (CASTLE) have been the subject of recent case reports. We reviewed clinicopathological, immunohistochemical, and molecular findings in 20 salivary gland tumors with thymus-like phenotype (18 histologically benign and two with malignant component).

The relevant Notch1-DLL-4 and α4β1-integrin-VCAM-1 interactions are known to respond to mechanical forces that regulate their bond dissociation behaviors and downstream signal transduction, yet manipulating the mechanosensitive features of these key receptor-ligand interactions in thymopoiesis has been largely ignored in current ETN designs. Here, we demonstrate that human T-cell development from cord blood-derived CD34 HSCs is regulated via molecular cooperativity in notch1 and integrin-mediated mechanotransduction.

In contrast to human medicine, thymic disorders receive little attention as differential diagnoses in veterinary medicine. The aim of this overview is to provide information on the current state of knowledge concerning the topographical anatomy, physiological development, and involution, function, and diseases of the thymus as well as the diagnosis of thymic disorders in various domestic mammals. Therefore, literature on this topic was searched and summarized.

Background: Thymolipoma is a rare benign anterior mediastinal tumour composed of thymic and adipose tissue, accounting for only 2-9% of thymic neoplasms (Mohamud et al., J Surg Case Rep 2020,2020; Shrivastava and Ntiamoah, Radiol Case Rep 15:1538-1540, 2020). Patients are often asymptomatic, and these masses are often detected incidentally.

Introduction: Thymic neuroendocrine tumors (TNETs) are rare malignancies characterized by aggressive clinical behavior and limited therapeutic options. In small cell lung cancer (SCLC), molecular subtypes based on the expression of lineage-defining transcription factors (TFs)-ASCL1, NEUROD1, POU2F3, and YAP1-have been proposed. However, the TF landscape of TNETs remains poorly defined.
