The ageing process is a progressive decrease in physiological function, caused by accruement of damage and misregulation in the cells and tissues of an organism. Human ageing has been the focus of much scientific investigation, but studies have been complicated by the variability of the process between subjects and the slow pace at which it occurs. Although the consequences of ageing on cellular biochemical signalling and metabolism have been well studied, the impact on the mechanical properties of cells and the extracellular matrix - and the mechanotransduction pathways that connect the two - have often been overlooked. In this review we will discuss recent advances in the fields of nuclear and cytoskeletal biophysics, and consider this work in the context of ageing. In particular, we will examine the role of the nucleus in cellular mechanotransduction and in 'age-related diseases/phenomena' such as progeria and cellular senescence. Finally, we will discuss the therapeutic options being explored, drawing attention to a new field of medicine termed 'mechano-medicine' that may prove useful in addressing age-related pathology.

Background: Work-related stress is a well-established contributor to mental health decline, particularly in the context of burnout, a state of prolonged exhaustion. Epigenetic clocks, which estimate biological age based on DNA methylation (DNAm) patterns, have been proposed as potential biomarkers of chronic stress and its impact on biological aging and health. However, their role in mediating the relationship between work-related stress, physiological stress markers, and burnout remains unclear.

Attempts to shape children's media use by affecting other caregivers' mediation practices, defined here as "secondary mediation," are a significant yet relatively undiscussed family dynamic. By investigating 267 dyads of the two primary caregivers in intergenerational families-mothers and grandmothers-the study presented in this article sheds light on the prevalence of secondary mediation, the factors predicting it, and its consequences. Our findings point to a considerable gap between the mothers and the grandmothers in reporting the existence of secondary mediation.

Cardiolipins (CLs) are primarily expressed in the inner mitochondrial membrane where they play essential roles in membrane architecture and mitochondrial functions. CLs have a unique structure characterized by four acyl chains with different stoichiometries such as chain length and degree of saturation. CL composition changes with disease and age, but it is largely unknown how dynamic changes affect mitochondrial function.

Purpose: To develop a comprehensive ICF Core Set (ICF-CS) for vertebral fragility fracture.
Materials And Methods: The development of ICF-CSs involves three phases: i) systematic literature review and qualitative studies; ii) linking process to identify the ICF codes and categories; iii) international consensus process. i) We performed a literature search and qualitative studies with people with vertebral fragility fractures and healthcare professionals; ii) We linked the findings from the search and qualitative studies to the ICF categories, and drafted the proposed ICF-CS; iii) We performed an international consensus process involving experts with clinical or research experience in management of vertebral fragility fractures.
