Fetal 4D Flow CMR for Advanced Diagnostics of Congenital Heart Disease: A Prospective Cohort Study.

Eur Heart J Cardiovasc Imaging

September 2025

Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology, University Hospital Bonn, Venusberg-Campus 1, 53127, Bonn, Germany.

Aims: Fetal circulation undergoes complex changes in congenital heart disease (CHD) that are challenging to assess with fetal echocardiography. This study aimed to assess clinical feasibility and diagnostic value of 4D flow cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) in fetal CHD.

Methods And Results: Pregnant women in advanced third trimester pregnancy with fetal CHD were prospectively recruited for fetal CMR between 08/2021 and 11/2024.

Background: Statin therapy lowers the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) among people with HIV (PWH). Residual risk pathways contributing to excess MACE beyond low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) are not well understood. Our objective was to evaluate the association of statin responsive and other inflammatory and metabolic pathways to MACE in the Randomized Trial to Prevent Vascular Events in HIV (REPRIEVE).

Myocarditis is an inflammation of heart tissue. Cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) has emerged as an important non-invasive imaging tool for diagnosing myocarditis, however, interpretation remains a challenge for novice physicians. Advancements in machine learning (ML) models have further improved diagnostic accuracy, demonstrating good performance.

Background: Long-term outcomes of transcatheter mitral valve edge-to-edge repair (TEER) are compared with medical therapy remain under investigation. This study evaluated the 3-year effects of MitraClip on mitral regurgitation (MR) severity, ventricular remodeling, and clinical outcomes in high surgical-risk patients.

Methods: A single-center retrospective cohort included 31 MitraClip patients (2016-2023) and 30 contemporaneous controls on maximally tolerated guideline-directed medical therapy.

Purpose: Cardiac noradrenergic denervation visualized by meta-[I]iodobenzylguanidine ([I]MIBG) imaging supports the diagnosis of Parkinson's disease (PD). Recently, meta-[F] fluorobenzylguanidine ([F]MFBG) PET demonstrated favorable imaging characteristics compared with [I]MIBG scintigraphy for neuroendocrine tumors. We assessed [F]MFBG dosimetry and myocardial pharmacokinetics in healthy controls and PD patients.
