Mentoring is suffering from a shortage of trained mentors which compromise the efficacy of novice mentoring or mentoring between a senior clinician and a junior clinician. E-mentoring is proposed as a means of supplementing this dominant form of mentoring in medicine by providing accessible, timely and longitudinal support for mentees. However, with little is known about e-mentoring nor its role in a blended mentoring approach, a systematic scoping review is proposed to evaluate these gaps in understanding in order to better understand e-mentoring and assess the viability of employing e-mentoring practice to support novice mentoring. Using Arksey and O'Malley's (Int J Soc Res Methodol 8(1):19-32, 2005) approach, 5 reviewers carried out independent literature reviews of e-mentoring as an adjuvant to novice mentoring in PubMed, Embase, PsycINFO, ERIC, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, Google Scholar, Scopus, GreyLit, OpenGrey, and Web of Science databases. Braun and Clarke's (Qual Res Psychol 3(2):77-101, 2006) thematic analysis approach was used to thematically analyse accounts of e-mentoring across different settings. 6557 abstracts were identified, 109 full text articles were reviewed, and 18 articles were included and thematically analysed. The themes identified include definitions, role, stages, processes, platforms, evaluation, and relationships in e-mentoring. The themes identified provide a clinically relevant definition of e-mentoring, and in highlighting the similarities in the phases of novice and e-mentoring reaffirms the validity of a blended approach as a means of addressing shortfalls in mentoring in medicine.

However, mastering these complex procedures requires overcoming a substantial learning curve, and the role of structured mentoring in facilitating this transition remains underexplored. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to comprehensively evaluate the number of cases required to achieve surgical proficiency, assess the impact of mentoring on skill acquisition, and analyze how outcomes evolve throughout the learning process.

Aim: To co-design a resilience-based mentoring program for novice midwives in Western Australia, informed by the experiences of past midwifery graduates and the perspectives of midwives in senior roles.
Background: Effective workforce planning and retention strategies are essential in preventing the continued loss of midwives and in attracting newly qualified midwives to healthcare organisations. Transitioning from student to registered midwife is a known period of vulnerability that requires structured, evidence-informed support.

Background: Formal mentoring within the nursing profession has been recognized as an effective approach in teaching critical thinking, leadership skills, communication, and professional socialization. Unfortunately, few baccalaureate nursing programs teach skills specific to mentoring, both as mentees and mentors within a formalized program.
Methods: A peer mentoring program with senior students mentoring sophomore students was developed based on Benner's (1984) novice-to-expert theory during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Objectives: Endoscopic Vessel Harvesting (EVH) devices are technically complex and the learning curve for novice practitioners can be steep, due to the need for refined hand-eye coordination and device familiarity. Training and mentoring approaches vary widely, as does the experience level of practitioners entering EVH practice.
Methods: This expert review was conducted by 10 international EVH specialists from the UK, USA, and Serbia, each with 18 to 28 years of experience.
Introduction: This project aimed to address high turnover rates among novice nurse practitioners in the emergency department, attributable to low job satisfaction. Dissatisfaction among nurse practitioner staff is linked to decreased engagement, productivity, and suboptimal patient outcomes and negatively affects both novice and seasoned staff morale. Low job satisfaction correlates with higher turnover rates, increased departmental costs, and a decline in the overall quality of patient care.
