The size of the acetabular labrum has been shown to be larger in patients with acetabular hip dysplasia and smaller in patients with acetabular overcoverage. Compensatory morphologic changes to the acetabular labrum are potentially useful as an imaging biomarker of hip stability, and with additional future outcomes investigation, imaging measures may be used to guide the type and extent of hip preservation surgery.

This study evaluates the relationship between preoperative cartilage quality, measured by T2 mapping, and patient-reported outcomes following labral tear treatment. We retrospectively reviewed patients aged 14-50 who underwent primary hip arthroscopy with either labral repair or reconstruction. Preoperative T2 values of femoral, acetabular, and labral tissue were assessed from MRI by blinded reviewers.

Purpose: Femoro-acetabular impingement (FAI) is a possible mechanism for the development of early osteoarthritis. FAI occurs when there is a conflict between the rim of the acetabulum and the femoral neck, usually due to irregularities of the proximal femur or acetabulum. Our aims were to compare the diagnostic efficacy of computed tomography arthrography (CTA) without traction, CTA with traction, and magnetic resonance arthrography (MRA) for the detection and grading of chondral and labral lesions in patients with a clinically positive impingement test and to determine the correlation between imaging findings and arthroscopic data in patients who had undergone surgery.
