Article Abstract

We report four new complexes based on a {Ln } wheel structure, three of which possess a net toroidal magnetic moment. The four examples consist of {Tb } and {Ho } wheels, which are rare examples of non Dy based complexes possessing a toroidal magnetic ground state, and a {Dy } complex which improves its toroidal structure upon lowering the crystallographic symmetry from trigonal (R ) to triclinic (P ). Notably the toroidal moment is lost for the trigonal {Er } analogue. This suggests the possibility of utilizing the popular concept of oblate and prolate electron density of the ground state M levels of lanthanide ions to engineer toroidal moments.

Paracetamol (PAR) is a common antipyretic and analgesic extensively used to treat cold and flu symptoms. It has been proven to be effective in headaches and relieving fever and pain. It is usually found as an over-the-counter drug, which has been associated with an increase in cases of poisoning due to overdose.

In this paper, ZnFeO was doped by two rare earth metals (La and Pr), and the as-prepared ZnLaFeO and ZnPrFeO were applied to activate PMS for acetaminophen degradation. ZnLaFeO with the largest oxygen vacancy (O) content showed the highest acetaminophen degradation efficacy. About 89.

This study investigates the adsorption of methyl orange (MO), methylene blue (MB), and acetaminophen (ACT) using biochars produced from Douglas fir and Miscanthus at different temperatures and with different post-pyrolysis treatments that added surface functional groups. Compounds were adsorbed separately and in mixtures to examine the competitive nature of the adsorption processes. MO is known to interact with MB and ACT, whereas MB and ACT are not likely to interact due to both having electron-donating groups.

Although acetaminophen (APAP) overdose represents the predominant cause of drug-induced acute liver failure (ALF) worldwide and has been extensively studied, the modes of cell death remain debatable and the treatment approach for APAP-induced acute liver failure is still limited. This study investigated the mechanisms of APAP hepatotoxicity in primary mouse hepatocytes (PMHs) by using integrated methods (MTT assay, HPLC analysis for glutathione (GSH), Calcein-AM for labile iron pool detection, confocal microscopy for lipid peroxidation and mitochondrial superoxide measurements, electron microscopy observation, and Western blot analysis for ferritin), focusing on the role of iron dysregulation under oxidative stress. Our results showed that 20 mM APAP treatment induced characteristic features of ferroptosis, including GSH depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and iron-dependent lipid peroxidation.

Herein the static and dynamic polarizabilities of the elements of the Periodic Table H-Rn are computed with the density functional theory (DFT) method using the property-optimized basis sets of quadruple- valence quality. To obtain insight into the shape of the electron charge distribution around the nucleus of an isolated atom, a model based on the polarizability anisotropy is presented. According to this model, the atoms with a non-zero orbital electron angular momentum and a non-vanishing electric anisotropy are assumed to be ellipsoids of rotation.
