Article Abstract

A reverse phase high performance liquid chromatographic (RP-HPLC) method was developed for identification and estimation of 18--glycyrrhetinic acid (GA) in HepG2 cell line. The analysis was carried out using a JASCO HPLC system with a C-18 (3 m) Supelco reversed phase column (150 x 4.7 mm) using a mobile phase of 80% CHOH and 20% of CHCN: tetrahydrofuran: water (10:80:10, v/v/v). The method was linear in the concentration range of 1.5-120 g /mL (n = 5). The LOD and LOQ were determined based on standard deviation of the y-intercept and the slope of the calibration curve. The LOD and LOQ values were found to be 11.46 g/mL and 34.72 g/mL, respectively. The mean percentage recovery by standard addition experiments of GA is 92.4 % ± 5.2%. The intracellular GA concentration value, obtained as mean of five different determinations, was 45.8 ± 7.45 g/mL. We have developed a HPLC-UV method for quantitative determination of GA inside cells, with advantages in the cost reduction and economy of the analytical process.

Modelling cardiovascular disease is at the forefront of efforts to use computational tools to assist in the analysis and forecasting of an individual's state of health. To build trust in such tools, it is crucial to understand how different approaches perform when applied to a nominally identical scenario, both singularly and across a population. To examine such differences, we have studied the flow in aneurysms located on the internal carotid artery and middle cerebral artery using the commercial solver Ansys CFX and the open-source code HemeLB.

Accurate determination of the parameters of each high purity germanium, HPGe detectors ensure the precision of quantitative results obtained from spectrum analysis. This study presents a comprehensive performance evaluation and long-term quality control assessment of a high-purity germanium (HPGe) gamma spectrometry system that has been operational for over 15 years. Key spectrometric measures were recorded, including energy resolution, peak shape ratios, asymmetry, peak-to-Compton ratio, relative efficiency, electronic noise, minimum detectable activity (MDA), and repeatability and reproducibility of the system.

There has been an increasing emphasis on recovery as the expectation for people with mental health conditions. Within acute care mental health settings, music therapists can facilitate recovery by motivating service users to identify self-directed goals that increase their ability to remain in communities of their choice and have lives of hope, meaning, and purpose. The purpose of this cluster-randomized pilot effectiveness study was to determine if a single group songwriting session can impact quantitative measures of recovery in adults on an acute care mental health unit.
