Article Abstract
Two 11(9 → 10)- abeo-5,10-secosteroids possessing an unprecedented dioxatetraheterocyclic ring system, aspersecosteroids A (1) and B (2), and a new ergosteroid, asperflosterol (3), were isolated from the sponge-derived fungus Aspergillus flocculosus 16D-1. Their structures were determined by spectroscopic analysis, X-ray diffraction, and computational methods. Compounds 1-3 demonstrated inhibitory effects on key pro-inflammatory cytokine production in THP-1 cells. A biogenetic pathway with oxidative cleavage, Wagner-Meerwein rearrangement, and sequential acetalization as key steps is proposed for 1 and 2.

Protein C (PC) is the main anticoagulant protein of the hemostasis system. It can inhibit the blood clotting cascade before the formation of a thrombus, while its concentration can decrease significantly during strong activation of blood clotting. The PC concentration was found to decrease during systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) (with a median of 75%) and depended heavily on the inflammation index.

Introduction: Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are the most common sarcoma subtype. Patients with unresectable or metastatic GISTs harboring the D842V mutation in the PDGFRA gene have a poor prognosis due to intrinsic resistance to imatinib and all other approved tyrosine kinase inhibitors. Avapritinib, targeting this mutation, is the first agent approved for patients with unresectable or metastatic GIST that have the PDGFRA D842V mutation.

These sophisticated methods necessitate stringent quality assurance (QA) measures to ensure their accuracy and safety. Three-dimensional (3D) dosimetry systems have the potential to play an important role in this context for verifying dose distributions in a comprehensive manner but have not been widely implemented partially due to a lack of streamlined systems that include dosimeter, readout, and analysis.

Background: Altered flow dynamics within abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) may lead to changes in aneurysmal geometry, intraluminal thrombus (ILT) deposition, or aneurysmal progression. Aortic torsion is one geometric deviation that has been clinically observed but has not been formally evaluated in preoperative AAAs.
