Objective: To evaluate the clinical characteristics, social deprivation, insurance coverage, and medication use across regional subsets of patients with psoriatic arthritis (PsA) in the US.
Methods: A cross-sectional study of PsA patients in the Rheumatology Informatics System for Effectiveness (RISE) registry between January 2020 and March2023 was conducted. Distribution of high disease activity (HDA - RAPID3>12), high comorbidity (RxRisk ≥90 percentile), high Area Deprivation Index (ADI ≥80), insurance coverage, prednisone ≥10mg daily, and all DMARD therapies across geographic regions were evaluated.

Objectives: Machine-based cyclic combing of hair tresses under dry conditions is a proven method for evaluating hair strength and the impact of treatments. Recent advancements in image analysis allow for a detailed review of hair fragment lengths and quantities produced after specific combing cycles. Our aim is to provide an in-depth analysis of the kinetics of hair fragment formation.

Glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) is an astrocytic marker that can be assessed in blood using single molecule array technology. Recent studies suggest that individuals with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) have suppressed circulating levels of this CNS biomarker. This study examined the hypothesis that PTSD and plasma GFAP levels share common genetic and epigenetic pathways.

Snakebite envenoming is a neglected tropical disease that affects mainly rural populations, where antivenom is scarce. Understanding environmental drivers of snakebite incidence is critical for public health preparedness. This study employs causal inference to assess the impact of rainfall on snakebite surges in Colombia, with broader implications for tropical regions.

Pompe disease is an autosomal recessive neuromuscular disorder characterized by a deficiency of acid α-glucosidase (GAA), an enzyme responsible for lysosomal glycogen degradation in all cells. Respiratory distress is a common symptom among patients with Pompe disease resulting from weakness of primary respiratory neuromuscular units of the diaphragm and genioglossus and the motor neurons which innervate them. The only FDA approved treatment is enzyme replacement therapy (ERT) of recombinant human GAA (rhGAA) which slows the decline of motor function and extends life expectancy.
