This study aimed to develop an acellular dermal matrix derived from tilapia skin and evaluate its potential as a bioscaffold for skin wound repair. Structural and compositional changes before and after decellularisation were assessed through histological staining, electron microscopy and immunological analysis. The matrix exhibited low immunogenicity, preserved extracellular matrix architecture and retained key bioactive components.

The advancement of science and technology is an undeniable phenomenon that is progressively transforming all aspects of human life, including scientific, social, humanitarian, and environmental fields, among others. Facial reconstruction surgery has recently gained much attention owing to the incorporation of new technologies, such as bioprinting, regenerative medicine (RM), and artificial intelligence (AI) in surgery. These advancements have led to more innovative, site-specific, and optimal methods of addressing the challenges of facial reconstruction following trauma, congenital malformations, and oncological resections.

Introduction: Implant-based breast reconstruction after skin-sparing mastectomy remains one of the most frequently used methods of breast reconstruction in the US. Patients with large, ptotic breasts often face poorer outcomes. We hypothesized that implant-based breast reconstruction with auto-augmentation techniques can minimize problems with acellular dermal matrices (ADM) by using less, and providing the benefit of prepectoral placement.

The aim of this study was to grow axially vascularized soft tissue flaps in sheep using the arteriovenous loop (AVL) technique to be transplanted for defect reconstruction. This technique may be a promising alternative to conventional free flaps to further reduce flap donor site morbidity. In this pilot study, AVLs ( = 12) were created in the groins of six sheep, placed into an isolation chamber, and embedded in Matriderm®.

Chondrichthyans (cartilaginous fishes) have lost the cellular bone characteristic of other jawed vertebrate skeletons. However, we identify cellular bone-like tissue in modified scales with enlarged bases, called 'bucklers' and 'thorns', which are distinctive for one group of extant batoids (rays). As placoid scales, they possess spines of orthodentine and osteodentine, but a unique basal structure.
