Vibrational infrared, Raman and surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectra of clotrimazole (CTZ) were documented and evaluated. Density-functional theory, B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p), approach was implemented to identify the possible conformations, develop the electrostatic potential map, evaluate frontier molecular orbitals and calculate the vibrational spectra of the target compound. The silver-loaded graphene was shown to be an effective SERS substrate for CTZ trace detection. The SERS spectrum showed two enhanced bands at 670 cm and 700 cm which confirmed the absorption of the silver substrate through chlorine and nitrogen atoms. A detection limit as low as 5 nM could be reached with a determination coefficient of 0.9988 using the band at 670 cm. The protein-ligand interaction with Secreted Aspartic Proteinase 2 (SAP2) of C. albicans showed that the four stable forms of CTZ maintain a free energy of binding of 6-7 kcal/mol, which could give insights into the mode of action in treating Candidiasis.

Herein, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and silver-loaded graphitic carbon nitride (Ag@g-CN) nanocomposites have been synthesized and used as an effective surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrates for the detection of low concentrations (10 M) of ciprofloxacin (CIP), a commonly bioactive medication used to treat bacterial illnesses. A combined approach of vibrational spectroscopy and density functional theory (DFT) has been developed to understand the possible modes of analyte (CIP) and SERS substrate (AgNPs and Ag@g-CN) interactions. Furthermore, it has been noticed that the behavior of drug molecules in terms of SERS response and energetics of interaction changed significantly when interacted with the noble metal AgNPs decorated onto the g-CN framework in comparison to only AgNPs as substrate.

Due to the rising human population and industrialization, harmful chemical compounds such as 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) and various dyes are increasingly released into the environment, resulting in water pollution. It is essential to convert these harmful chemicals into harmless compounds to mitigate this pollution. This research focuses on synthesizing a novel heterogeneous catalyst using modified canvas fabric (CF) decorated with silver metal nanoparticles on graphene oxide nanosheets (Ag-GO/CF).

Carbon-based materials have been studied for their antimicrobial properties. Previously, most antimicrobial studies are investigated with suspended nanoparticles in a liquid medium. Most works are often carried out with highly ordered pyrolytic graphite.

The antibacterial and barrier properties of natural rubber used as gloves are very important for the safety of medical staffs. In this research, the silver (Ag) particles were loaded on the surface of graphene oxide (GO) first modified by polydopamine (PDA). Then, the complex particles (Ag-PDA-GO) were introduced into the natural rubber (NR) latex, and the Ag-PDA-GO/NR film composites were obtained by the dipping method.

This investigation reports the in situ growth of silver nanoparticles onto covalently bonded graphene oxide-chitosan, which serve as supported nanocatalysts for the NaBH reduction of 2,4-dinitrophenol in aqueous systems. Fumaryl chloride reacted with chitosan in an acidic environment to yield a tailored polymeric material. The latter was, in turn, treated with the pre-synthesised graphene oxide sheets under acidic conditions to generate the GO-functionalised membrane (GO-FL-CS).
