Renal transplant scintigraphy, performed in a 23-year-old man who had renal graft from a living donor, showed nearly normal perfusion and moderately low function of the graft. But the margins of the graft were blurred, and it was interestingly appearing enlarged late in the study. Ultrasound demonstrated a hypoechoic rim surrounding the whole kidney. Biopsy revealed necrosis besides normal cortical tissue. Necrosis was thought to be limited to the subcapsular cortical area. It should be considered that these scintigraphic findings could be due to greatly reduced and delayed perfusion of edematous subcapsular necrotic area of the graft even in normal perfusion images.

The hypertrophied column of Bertin (HCB) is a benign anatomical variant of the renal cortex that may mimic a neoplastic mass, particularly on ultrasound, potentially leading to unnecessary diagnostic or surgical interventions. We report the case of a nine-year-old girl in whom a renal lesion was incidentally discovered during follow-up imaging for a post-traumatic subcapsular hematoma. Renal ultrasound revealed an isoechoic mass in the mid-portion of the left kidney, extending into the renal sinus.

Although human lymph node architecture varies by site, the intranodal distribution of interdigitating dendritic cells (DCs) remains poorly understood. To address this, we compared the morphology of submandibular, paratracheal, mesenteric, and inguinal nodes obtained from 24 donated cadavers. Breakthrough advances in nanotechnology have substantially enhanced lymph node (LN) targeting efficiency and immune cell uptake of nanovaccines, establishing novel avenues for tumor immunotherapy. Nevertheless, current nanovaccines predominantly accumulate in subcapsular sinuses (SCS) or superficial cortical regions post-lymphatic transport, failing to traverse anatomical barriers to reach the T cell-enriched paracortex-a critical delivery bottleneck that severely limits full activation of cellular immunity. Furthermore, the absence of tumor-specific endogenous stimuli in LN microenvironments invalidates conventional environment-responsive delivery strategies.

Different cataract types and various severities usually require different countermeasures. For automatic cataract diagnosis, existing cataract classification methods group cataracts into common types, such as nuclear cataract, cortical cataract, and posterior subcapsular cataract, while existing cataract grading works aim to achieve fine-grained evaluation of the severity of the most common types of cataract. The severity assessment differs among various types of cataracts.
