Soft x-ray microscopy (SXM) is a minimally invasive technique for single-cell high-resolution imaging as well as the visualization of intracellular distributions of light elements such as carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen. We used SXM to observe photosynthesis and nitrogen fixation in the filamentous cyanobacterium sp. PCC 7120, which can form heterocysts during nitrogen starvation. Statistical and spectroscopic analyses from SXM images around the K-absorption edge of nitrogen revealed a significant difference in the carbon-to-nitrogen (C/N) ratio between vegetative cells and heterocysts. Application of this analysis to soft x-ray images of sp. PCC 7120 revealed inhomogenous C/N ratios in the cells. Furthermore, soft x-ray tomography of sp. PCC 7120 revealed differing cellular C/N ratios, indicating different carbon and nitrogen distributions between vegetative cells and heterocysts in three dimensions.

Soft tissue sarcomas are a heterogeneous group of malignancies arising from mesenchymal cells. Recent advancements in genomic profiling have identified novel gene fusions in these tumors, offering new insights into their pathogenesis and potential therapeutic targets. Here, we describe a spindle cell sarcoma harboring a novel gene fusion.

Rationale: Extranodal natural killer (NK)/T-cell lymphoma is an uncommon non-Hodgkin lymphoma, prevalent in Asia. It often involves the nasal and upper airway regions but can disseminate to other sites like skin, soft tissue, testis, and gastrointestinal tract, characterized by Epstein-Barr virus association.
Patient Concerns: This report discusses a 48-year-old male initially diagnosed with Behcet syndrome with dry mouth, uveitis, pruritic macules, and human leukocyte antigen-B51 positivity.

Objective: To evaluate multiparametric MRI features of pediatric soft-tissue sarcomas, comparing pre-treatment and post-treatment features, and assessing correlation with clinical outcomes.
Materials And Methods: Retrospective cohort study, including pediatric patients (≤ 18 years) with histologically-confirmed soft-tissue sarcomas who underwent MRI with anatomic and functional sequences in consecutive series. Post-treatment MRI was available for a subset, and features were recorded by two readers.

We have developed a vacuum-compatible liquid flat-jet apparatus that delivers stable, sub-micrometer sheets for soft-x-ray spectroscopy. Interchangeable PEEKsil microjets (ϕ 25-100 μm) collide to form a leaf-like jet that runs reproducibly for more than 6 h at ∼0.1 Pa.

They pose significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenges due to their overlap with other malignancies, necessitating accurate diagnosis and a tailored treatment approach to improve patient outcomes. A 29-year-old Asian female initially underwent a lumpectomy for a right breast mass diagnosed as a phyllodes tumor on histopathology.
