Appropriate nutrition - in terms of both quantity and quality - is not only one of the main life processes. A well-balanced diet including sufficient amounts of minerals and vitamins supports proper human development and functioning from fetal development to very advanced old age; it promotes regeneration after intensive exercise and is a key element for successful treatment of most acute and chronic diseases, including liver diseases.

For individuals with diabetes, maintaining optimal glycaemic control is essential to reduce the risk of long-term complications. However, as patients approach the end of life, the emphasis on tight glycaemic targets becomes less relevant. Instead, the primary goal shifts to maintaining blood glucose levels within a range that minimises the risk of hypoglycaemia and prevents symptomatic hyperglycaemia, thereby ensuring comfort and quality of life.

Environmental and nutritional factors are critical in modulating the immune system of Penaeus vannamei, particularly under viral threats such as white spot syndrome virus (WSSV). This study evaluated the effects of two Amazonian plant-based feed additives, buriti (Mauritia flexuosa) and pracaxi (Pentaclethra macroloba) brans, on shrimp immunocompetence, oxidative balance, and resistance to WSSV. Shrimp were fed diets supplemented with 4% or 8% of each ingredient.

Purpose: The association of nutritional intervention and health-related quality of life (HRQL) was examined in children with cancer.
Methods: Undernourished children with cancer (N = 260) were randomized 1:1 to standard nutritional therapy (SNT) or SNT + Ready to Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF). HRQL was assessed using the Health Utilities Index® (HUI) at study entry and 6 weeks later.
