Background: The rising burden of colorectal cancer with a high prevalence of advanced stages of new-onset is reported worldwide. While applied, chemotherapy can extend patients' survival, and proper tailoring is paramount. Based on computed tomography results, the study aimed to point out potential prognostic factors of complete or partial response to the initial three months of chemotherapy in palliative colorectal (CRC) cancer.

Crohn's disease is a chronic and progressive inflammatory disease of the gastrointestinal tract; whose symptoms recur and subside. This disease mainly affects the ileum and terminal colon and usually causes segmental, asymmetric, and transmural inflammation. Its clinical symptoms are variable, including diarrhea, abdominal pain, rectal bleeding, weight loss, and skin lesions.

Purpose: Primary objective was to compare the rates of parastomal hernia (PH) at 2 years after the creation of a terminal colostomy using two types of fascial incision: cross-shaped and reinforced longitudinal. Secondary objectives included the evaluation of postoperative complications, readmissions, reoperations for PH, and patients' quality of life.
Methods: This was a multicenter superiority clinical trial conducted at 5 hospitals involving patients with rectal cancer and definitive colostomy.

The aim of this study was to compare Wafi ileostomy to Brooke ileostomy in patients undergoing elective resection for stage 3 rectal cancer in terms of ileostomy creation and reversal-related complications. This was a prospective cohort study enrolling consecutive patients with stage 3 distal rectal cancer undergoing elective TME with Wafi or Brooke ileostomy at a median 8-week interval following neoadjuvant chemoradiation in two institutions. Wafi ileostomy was defined as the insertion of a soft polyvinylchloride spiral endotracheal tube into the afferent limb of the terminal ileum with a flexible rubber band passed behind the backwall of its efferent limb to occlude.

We present the case of a 21 years-old male who suffered major multiple injuries as the result of a mine explosion occurred on 19/09/23 in Armenia. They included shrapnel wounds involving the penile urethra, the bladder, the rectum, the anal canal and the upper and lower extremities and multiple fractures of the pelvis. Initially he underwent a stabilizing surgery at the field hospital; he was then transferred to the Astghik Medical Center where a new emergency surgery was performed with the creation of a lateral colostomy and the placement of a midline cystostomy drainage.
