Article Abstract

It is postulated that hemodynamic changes occur in the distal vascular bed post-deployment of Pipeline Embolization Devices (PEDs). In this paper, we evaluate changes in the contrast transit times (TTs) on digital subtraction angiography (DSA) post-PED interventions. DSA films were analyzed using custom-made software for the time-density relationship at baseline and compared to post-PED deployment. All analyses were performed within the middle cerebral artery (MCA) M1 segment. Analyses included TT (time needed for the contrast to change from 10% image intensity to 100%), TT, and TT. Forty-four patients were included. We found a significant decrease in TT (2.79 to 2.24 seconds, p < 0.001) post-PED. There was a significant correlation between the percentage change in TT and aneurysm size ( p = 0.02). There was also a significant decrease in TT (7.07 to 6.41 seconds, p = 0.02) post-PED. Moreover, there was a significant correlation between the absolute or percentage changes in TT and aneurysm size (rho = 0.54, p = 0.05 and rho = 0.29, p = 0.05, respectively). Statistically significant distal intracranial hemodynamic changes occur post-PED deployment. These hemodynamic changes appear to be more pronounced with large and giant aneurysms.

Small glaciers situated in high mountainous areas are experiencing notable declines, characterized by unprecedented rates of ice loss in recent years. This study investigates the recent changes in surface elevation and mass loss occurring between 2010 and 2023 within the Alamkouh Glacier over three subperiods, one of the biggest glaciers in Iran and the Middle East. These assessments are derived from a combination of high-resolution LiDAR data in 2010 (with a spatial resolution of 20 cm) and multi-temporal surveys conducted using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in 2018, 2020, and 2023 (with spatial resolutions varied from 10 to 20 cm).

Recent studies have shown that the glymphatic system plays a crucial role in driving hyperacute edema after ischemic stroke. This has sparked interest in understanding how this system changes in later phases of ischemic stroke. In this study, we utilized cisternal contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (CE-MRI) and immunofluorescence staining to investigate glymphatic system alterations at subacute and chronic phases of ischemic stroke.

The obligate intracellular bacterium alternates between two functional forms during its developmental cycle: elementary body (EB) and reticulate body (RB). However, the molecular mechanisms governing the transitions between these forms are unknown. Here, we present evidence that cyclic di-AMP (c-di-AMP) is a key factor in triggering the transition from RB to EB (i.

Isovalent anion substitution has been shown to have a tremendous effect on the transport properties in lithium halide solid ionic conductors. Although sodium-ion solid state batteries based on chloride ionic conductors have recently gathered significant attention, investigations of anion substitution in sodium containing chlorides remain scarce. Here, we investigate the role of Br isoelectronic anion substitution in a perovskite-related compound with nominal composition of NaTaCl.
