Spectacular images of the process of myosin II filament formation and organization in migrating cells are unveiled by super-resolution imaging. A combination of short- and long-range interactions with actin filaments is seen to play a critical role in filament partitioning and alignment into contractile actin arcs and stress fibres.

Background And Objectives: Minimal exposure to neurosurgery in standard medical school curricula alongside a growing need for neurosurgical care necessitate early exposure programs that promote medical student retention in neurosurgery. Here, we evaluate preclinical students' perceptions on a one-day, resident-designed introductory neurosurgical course.
Methods: Course curriculum involved hands-on and discussion-based elements split into three stations: (1) suturing/general information; (2) introduction to drilling/LPs/EVDs; and (3) case/clinical skills review.

Defining performance errors in robotic surgery is critical for the assessment of robotic surgery skill. Our goal was to identify and categorize explicitly defined intraoperative technical errors in robotic surgery, how skill assessment was performed, and how ratings were conducted either manually by experts or via automated ratings. This scoping review included studies involving general, urologic, obstetrics/gynecologic, and thoracic surgery, and general skills as practiced in inanimate, virtual reality, in vivo/ex vivo animal, cadaver, and human operations.

Background: Photon-counting computed tomography (CT) bears promise to substantially improve spectral and spatial resolution. One reason for the relatively slow evolution of photon-counting detectors in CT-the technology has been used in nuclear medicine and planar radiology for decades-is pulse pileup, that is, the random staggering of pulses, resulting in count loss and spectral distortion, which in turn cause image bias and reduced contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR). The deterministic effects of pileup can be mitigated with a pileup-correction algorithm, but the loss of CNR cannot be recovered, and must be minimized by hardware design.
