Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) is a powerful technology for observing the Earth surface, especially for mapping the Earth's topography and deformations. InSAR measurements are however often significantly affected by the atmosphere as the radar signals propagate through the atmosphere whose state varies both in space and in time. Great efforts have been made in recent years to better understand the properties of the atmospheric effects and to develop methods for mitigating the effects. This paper provides a systematic review of the work carried out in this area. The basic principles of atmospheric effects on repeat-pass InSAR are first introduced. The studies on the properties of the atmospheric effects, including the magnitudes of the effects determined in the various parts of the world, the spectra of the atmospheric effects, the isotropic properties and the statistical distributions of the effects, are then discussed. The various methods developed for mitigating the atmospheric effects are then reviewed, including the methods that are based on PSInSAR processing, the methods that are based on interferogram modeling, and those that are based on external data such as GPS observations, ground meteorological data, and satellite data including those from the MODIS and MERIS. Two examples that use MODIS and MERIS data respectively to calibrate atmospheric effects on InSAR are also given.

Calcineurin B-like proteins (CBLs) sense calcium signals and regulate carbon/nitrogen metabolism via CBL-interacting protein kinases (CIPKs), though their roles in cucumber under HC-LN conditions are unclear. The present study carried out the first systematic review with meta-analysis on the effects of metals and temperature rise individually and their associations with terrestrial invertebrates. Initially, a systematic review of peer-reviewed articles was performed. Meta-analysis demonstrated that metals negatively affected the fitness of annelids, arthropods, and nematodes and positively affected physiological regulation in annelids.

With the increasing demand for wind energy in the electric power generation industry, optimizing robust and efficient control strategies is essential for a wind energy conversion system (WECS). In this regard, this study proposes a novel hybrid control strategy for wind power systems directly coupled to a permanent-magnet synchronous generator (PMSG). The contribution of this work is to propose a control strategy design based on a combination of the nonlinear Backstepping approach for system stabilization according to Lyapunov theory and the application of artificial neural network to maximize energy harvesting regardless of wind speed fluctuations.

The Tone River in Japan represents one of the southern limit distributions of chum salmon (Oncorhynchus keta) on the western side of the North Pacific, but the number of adult chum salmon observed here has declined dramatically since 2013 and reached zero in 2024. The factors behind the recent decline of the chum salmon population in the Tone River were investigated by using ocean reanalysis data and a 20-year particle-tracking simulation. Virtual chum salmon fry were released at the mouth of the Tone River in spring each year with six different swimming strategies to evaluate the effects of ocean currents on the population growth rate of salmon.
