We report on type-I phase-matched second harmonic generation (SHG) in three nonlinear crystals: DKDP (98% deuteration), YCOB (XZ plane), and LBO (XY plane), of 8 J, 10 Hz cryogenic gas cooled Yb:YAG laser operating at 1029.5 nm. DKDP exhibited an efficiency of 45% at a peak fundamental intensity of 0.24 GW/cm for 10 Hz operation at 10 ns. At the same intensity and repetition rate, YCOB and LBO showed 50% and 65% conversion efficiencies, respectively. Significant improvement in conversion efficiency, to a maximum of 82%, was demonstrated in LBO at 0.7 GW/cm and 10 Hz, generating output energy of 5.6 J at 514.75 nm, without damage or degradation. However, no improvement in conversion efficiency was recorded for YCOB at this increased intensity. Additionally, we present theoretically calculated temperature maps for both 10 J and 100 J operation at 10 Hz, and discuss the suitability of these three crystals for frequency conversion of a 100 J, 10 Hz diode pumped solid state laser (DPSSL).

A carbohydrate placebo (CHO-PLA) is a non-metabolic substance guised as carbohydrate. When information about the treatment was not disclosed, CHO-PLA enhanced strength performance through the sweetness cue, which psychologically strengthened participants' belief in its efficacy. However, the effects of CHO-PLA when participants are misinformed that they are consuming actual carbohydrates, and the role of additional cues (visual reinforcement), remain less understood.

Tabata-based High-Intensity Functional Training (HIFT) elicits hybrid adaptations in both cardiorespiratory and neuromuscular systems. However, its high Rating of Perceived Exertion (RPE) may limit its feasibility. This study aimed to analyze the acute physiological and psychological responses to a modified low-volume Tabata-based HIFT incorporating short efforts, with a focus on potential differences between sexes.

Speech disorders differ between Parkinson's disease (PD) and multiple system atrophy (MSA), but studies focusing on group differences based on syllables or including cerebellar ataxia (CA) are lacking until now. This cross-sectional study aimed to analyze syllable-based speech characteristics in patients with PD, MSA, and CA, as well as healthy controls, to determine their diagnostic utility. Speech samples were collected from 68 PD, 52 MSA, 23 CA, and 70 healthy controls.

Objectives: To explore the acute effects of a heavy-load resistance protocol and exercise in the supine position on fetal heart rate (FHR) and uteroplacental blood flow.
Method: In this experimental laboratory study, 48 healthy pregnant athletes (elite: n=7; recreational: n=41) completed 3×8 repetitions with one repetition in reserve in sumo deadlift, bench press and incline bench press. FHR and umbilical and uterine artery pulsatility index (PI) were assessed before and after exercise.

Purpose: Rapid force production relies upon neuromuscular mechanisms differing from those underlying maximal strength. In chronically strength-trained individuals, specific adaptations in rapid force variables (RFVs)-both absolute and normalized to maximal force capacity-following resistance training with ballistic versus controlled contractions remain underexplored. Therefore, we examined whether improvements in maximal propulsive power (MaxPP) coincide with RFV responses, specifically, rate of force development (RFD) and impulse.
