N, as plants' most essential nutrient, profoundly shapes root system architecture (RSA), with LRs being preferentially regulated. This review synthesizes the intricate molecular mechanisms underpinning N sensing, signaling, and its integration into developmental pathways governing LR initiation, primordium formation, emergence, and elongation. We delve deeply into the roles of specific transporters (NRT1.

Selenium's role in aging is supported by its involvement in antioxidant defense, immune function, and cellular maintenance. Adequate selenium levels can contribute to healthier aging. This cross-sectional study investigated the associations of selenium status markers with anthropometric parameters, glycemic profile, and inflammatory biomarkers in 72 older adults living in nursing homes (NH).

Environmental conditions play a key role in shaping the functional composition of communities by favouring species with specific trait combinations. Certain habitat characteristics likely select for traits that confer advantages under specific local conditions, highlighting the importance of functional traits in mediating species' responses to environmental variation and in structuring community assembly. The main objective of this study was to identify the relationship of functional and taxonomic diversity, and biological traits against environmental variables across a coastal gradient to offshore reefs.

Brain commissures are antiparallel white matter fiber bundles that connect both hemispheres across the midsagittal plane at different anatomical levels. In the mammalian brain, the best-known commissures are the corpus callosum, the anterior and the posterior commissures. Recent studies have identified a new white matter pathway, the thalamic commissures (TCs), that connect the cortex to the contralateral thalamus in rodents and primates.

Background: One of the most intriguing and unusual features of trypanosomatids is their mitochondrial DNA, known as kinetoplast DNA (kDNA), which is organized into a network of concatenated circles. The kDNA is contained within the mitochondrial matrix and can exhibit distinct arrangements across different species and during cell differentiation. In addition to kDNA, the kinetoplast contains multiple proteins, including those involved in mitochondrial DNA topology and metabolism, such as the kinetoplast-associated proteins (KAPs).
