Immunotherapies, including cell therapies, are effective anti-cancer agents. However, cellular product persistence can be limiting with short functional duration of activity contributing to disease relapse. A variety of manufacturing protocols are used to generate therapeutic engineered T-cells; these differ in techniques used for T-cell isolation, activation, genetic modification, and other methodology.

Patients with traumatic injuries who develop ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) incur a higher risk of developing multi-drug resistance. Shorter duration of antibiotic agents for early VAP at five days may reduce antibiotic agent exposure without worsening patient outcomes. This retrospective cohort study performed at a Level I Trauma Center included adult (≥16 years old) patients with trauma diagnosed with bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL)-proven early (within four days of intubation) bacterial VAP.

Objective: Cisplatin-induced acute kidney injury (Cis-AKI) is a significant cause of renal damage, characterized by tubular injury, ferroptosis, and oxidative stress. While therapeutic options for Cis-AKI remain limited, identifying novel targets to prevent kidney injury is critical. This study focuses on GALNT14, a gene associated with ferroptosis, and its potential role in mitigating Cis-AKI.

Background: Antithrombotic treatment might affect bleeding symptoms, identification of bleeding source and treatment for patients with acute gastrointestinal bleeding. This study aims to investigate possible differences in initial bleeding symptoms, identified bleeding site and treatment of patients with or without antithrombotic medication admitted for gastrointestinal bleeding.
Methods: All consecutive adult patients primarily admitted for gastrointestinal bleeding at Skane University Hospital between 2018-01-01 and 2019-06-31, were included in this study.
