Article Abstract
Objective: To explore the experience of breast cancer patients who either received acupuncture or were allocated to the control group.
Methods: Focus group/interviews nested within our multi-site randomised controlled trial. Participants were recruited from the standard care and experimental arm. The interviews/focus groups were transcribed and analysed thematically.
Results: Of the 302 eligible participants 13% (n = 40) contributed to the focus groups/interviews, across three study sites in the UK. Five common themes were identified, including: drivers to take part, the experience of receiving acupuncture, being allocated standard care (control) and reflections on taking part in the trial. The subgroup of control group participants (n = 9) reported disappointment on hearing their allocation, but recognised the value of their role to the study.
Conclusions: Recipients of acupuncture reported beneficial effects in managing fatigue and related symptoms. The finding that control participants were disappointed warrants further investigation and consideration when designing interventional studies.

Introduction: While traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has a long history and continues to be widely practised, its overall clinical efficacy according to conventional scientific standards remains the topic of ongoing research and exploration. This review focuses on the potential use of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) in combination with Western medicine in Singapore, based on recently published data on the clinical effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of these TCM treatments.
Method: We collated and summarised 71 research papers published in the past decade, focusing on randomised controlled trials, systematic reviews and population-based cohort studies that had a total sample size (treatment and control arms) exceeding 60.
Background: Acupuncture is a widely recognized complementary therapy with proven therapeutic benefits; however, concerns regarding patient safety persist due to adverse events ranging from minor complications to severe outcomes like pneumothorax and nerve injury.
Objective: This study aims to identify common adverse events in acupuncture, propose innovative risk mitigation strategies, establish standardized best practices, enhance practitioner training, and examine global disparities in safety protocols.
Design: Comprehensive review of existing literature, clinical case studies, and international safety guidelines.

Background: This study investigated the efficacy of moxibustion with aconite cake combined with earlobe acupressure in alleviating anxiety and depression in newly diagnosed human immunodeficiency virus patients.
Methods: Ninety eligible patients from the Affiliated Ruikang Hospital of Guangxi University of Chinese Medicine were randomly divided into an intervention group and a control group of 45 each. The control group received conventional care, while the intervention group received the combined therapy.
