One pressure and three chemical mobilization strategies have been optimized and tested for two-step capillary isoelectric focusing with ultraviolet detection with simultaneous refining of the composition of carrier ampholytes as well as of anodic and cathodic spacers. The comparison of individual mobilization strategies was performed on basis of model proteins and peptides covering a pI range of 4.1-10.0, finally targeting an acidic major food allergen, that is, ovalbumin. Resolution was improved by combining Pharmalyte 3-10 with Pharmalyte 5-6 with concentration adjustment of carrier ampholytes and the anodic and cathodic spacer, respectively. Analytes within pI 5-6 but not ovalbumin were prone to artificial peak duplication under selected capillary isoelectric focusing conditions due to retardation during focusing. l-Arginine and iminodiacetic acid were included as spacer to prevent drifts of the pH gradient and optionally block the distal capillary part. l-Arginine affected the baseline in the acidic regime in some instances by introducing irregularities that interfered with ovalbumin. Cathodic mobilization with an acidic zwitterion provided the best selectivity for ovalbumin and was successfully applied for the characterization of three commercial products of ovalbumin, revealing differences between the respective profiles. Up to 12 different fractions situated between pI 4.51 and 4.72 could be addressed.

Introduction: Neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) are a priority in the public health agenda for Côte d'Ivoire, with persons living with disabilities due to NTDs (PD-NTDs) experiencing many challenges in their daily lives. Current policies do not sufficiently support PD-NTDs, thereby highlighting the need to identify opportunities for policy improvement.
Methods: This study was carried out in two phases: first to identify the current needs (formative phase) and then to develop a pilot strategy (implementation phase).

Gout, which affects 3-6 % of Western populations, has well-established therapies but still lacks agents that directly target monosodium urate (MSU) deposits. This study investigates a novel strategy employing cyclodextrins (CDs) and hyperbranched cyclodextrin-based polymers (HBCD-Pol) to both mobilize and prevent MSU formation. Among the CDs tested, HPβ-CD exhibited the strongest uric acid (UA) complexation at 25 °C, while HBCD-Pol showed superior performance by chelating Na ions.

The study aimed to determine whether confinement with TMR during the first 21 DIM, followed by grazing supplemented with partial mixed ration (PMR), alleviates negative energy balance, enhancing productive performance and accelerating the resumption of ovarian cyclicity in primiparous and multiparous dairy cows, relative to a control group managed on grazing supplemented with PMR after calving. Following calving, 16 primiparous and 24 multiparous Holstein dairy cows were blocked and randomly distributed into 2 treatments: one included grazing plus supplementation with PMR after calving (T0), while the other one involved confinement with TMR ad libitum during the first 21 DIM and the same feeding management of T0 from d 22 onwards until 60 DIM (T21). Primiparous cows showed no significant differences between treatments in milk production.
