Despite the popularity of tourism and recreation in the Andes in South America and the regions conservation value, there is limited research on the ecological impacts of these types of anthropogenic use. Using a systematic quantitative literature review method, we found 47 recreation ecology studies from the Andes, 25 of which used an experimental design. Most of these were from the Southern Andes in Argentina (13 studies) or Chile (eight studies) with only four studies from the Northern Andes. These studies documented a range of impacts on vegetation, birds and mammals; including changes in plant species richness, composition and vegetation cover and the tolerance of wildlife of visitor use. There was little research on the impacts of visitors on soils and aquatic systems and for some ecoregions in the Andes. We identify research priorities across the region that will enhance management strategies to minimise visitor impacts in Andean ecosystems.

Introduction: Public engagement is critical to the conservation of industrial heritage sites, yet the psychological mechanisms underlying support behaviors remain understudied. This study investigates how perceived value, environmental sustainability awareness, social identity, and perceived government support shape the public's willingness to participate in and financially support industrial heritage conservation. Particular attention is given to the mediating role of place attachment.

Traditionally, environmental research and practice treated human beings and ecosystems as two separate entities, focusing on the negative impacts humans cause to ecosystems. Social-ecological systems framing helps to address this long-standing dichotomy. Yet, the integration of social dimensions into social-ecological systems remains poorly defined and contested, requiring more theory development and practice.

Kiwifruit () is a globally important crop presenting challenges for ensuring cross-pollination. This study aimed to (1) record the entomological fauna visiting flowers; (2) evaluate the visitation frequency of pollinators; and (3) test the use of lavender extract to enhance cross-pollination by honeybees and assess the impacts on fruit quality. Nine species of floral visitors were recorded as pollinators, although the most frequent were the exotic honeybee () and the native bees and .
