Background: Rapid-start antiretroviral therapy (RS-ART), including same-day ART (SD-ART), effectively improves individual and public health by speeding up treatment initiation but is underutilized among people who inject drugs (PWID). As a pre-implementation activity, we assessed barriers and facilitators to SD-ART for PWID in Malaysia using insights from multiple stakeholders.
Methods: We conducted focus groups (n = 4) using nominal group technique (NGT), a mixed-methods research strategy, with PWID, HIV specialists, and community health workers (CHWs) in Greater Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

BackgroundSingle-tablet regimens (STRs) with integrase inhibitors, bictegravir (BIC) or dolutegravir (DTG), are favored in HIV treatment for their efficacy and convenience. This study compares persistence-time from initiation to discontinuation-between BIC/emtricitabine (FTC)/tenofovir alafenamide (TAF) and DTG-containing STRs at a Toronto HIV clinicMethodsA retrospective cohort analysis was conducted on 1732 adults with HIV at Maple Leaf Medical Clinic who initiated or switched to BIC/FTC/TAF or DTG-containing STRs from 2016 to 2022. Persistence was measured in days until discontinuation.

During infection, the fusion peptide (FP) of HIV envelope glycoprotein (Env) serves a central role in viral fusion with the host cell. As such, the FP is highly conserved and therefore an attractive epitope for vaccine design. Here, we describe a vaccination study in non-human primates (NHPs) where glycan deletions were made on soluble HIV Env to increase FP epitope exposure.

The HIV epidemic in South Africa is one of the largest globally, with a 20% prevalence among adults. The South African National Strategic Plan recognizes the need to address social and structural barriers to HIV prevention, as well as behavioral drivers, including alcohol abuse. Nested within a rural community-based HIV testing initiative, including at alcohol venues (AVs), we explored whether structural features of AVs were associated with HIV seropositivity.

Autoimmune diseases (AIDs) are chronic, heterogeneous conditions developing from an aberrant immune response, impacting particular organs or multiple systems. This systematic review attempted to investigate and evaluate the correlation between autoimmune diseases and cardiovascular disease (CVD), emphasizing immunological and pathophysiological mechanisms. A comprehensive search for relevant research was conducted on the PubMed, SCOPUS, and ScienceDirect databases, resulting in the identification of 28 studies that met the inclusion criteria.
