Assessment of industrial fault diagnosis using rough approximations of fuzzy hypersoft sets.

PLoS One

September 2025

Department of Maths and Computer Science, Faculty of Science, University of Kinshasa, Kinshasa, The Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Reliable and timely fault diagnosis is critical for the safe and efficient operation of industrial systems. However, conventional diagnostic methods often struggle to handle uncertainties, vague data, and interdependent multi-criteria parameters, which can lead to incomplete or inaccurate results. Existing techniques are limited in their ability to manage hierarchical decision structures and overlapping information under real-world conditions.

Perspectives on newborn screening for Fabry disease based on mothers' experiences in Japan.

J Genet Couns

October 2025

Department of Genetic Counseling, Graduate School of Medical Sciences, Fujita Health University, Toyoake, Aichi, Japan.

Newborn screening (NBS) for Fabry disease (FD) is an effective way to identify individuals with FD before the onset of symptoms, enabling early therapeutic treatment. The classic form of FD typically begins in early childhood or later, but the late-onset form often develops in adulthood. However, FD-NBS identifies positive cases regardless of the expected timing of symptom onset.

Adolescent Morel-Lavallée Lesions: A Case Report of Challenges in Diagnosis and Management in Atypical Locations.

Am J Case Rep

September 2025

Department of Pediatrics, Southwest Healthcare Medical Education Consortium, Temecula, CA, USA.

BACKGROUND Morel-Lavallee lesions (MLLs) are uncommon, closed soft-tissue degloving injuries caused by high-energy trauma that are often missed due to their rarity and delayed presentation, resulting in serious complications. MLLs are particularly missed and underreported in pediatric and adolescent patients. We describe the case of an adolescent MLL occurring in an atypical lesion site at the calf to increase awareness of this diagnosis and associated presentation in this patient group, which can differ from adult presentation and contribute to diagnostic uncertainty that consequently impacts clinical decision-making.

Congenital toxoplasmosis (CT) due to Toxoplasma gondii, an apicomplexan parasite, leads to significant sequelae in children, foetal losses and neonatal deaths worldwide. This study aimed to assess the burden of CT in Burundi for the year 2020. We used epidemiological and economic data collected in major hospitals in Burundi, the Ministry of Public Health in Burundi and international peer-reviewed literature to estimate the disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) and economic costs spent on prenatal consultations, diagnosis and treatment of toxoplasmosis for pregnant women.
