Thanks to high-throughput experiments, biological conditions can be investigated at both the entire genomic and transcriptomic levels. In addition, protein-protein interaction (PPI) data are widely available for well-studied organisms, such as human. In this chapter, we will present an integrative approach that makes use of these data to find the PPI module involving the key regulated transcription factors shared by a number of given conditions. These conditions could be for instance different cancer types. Briefly, for the studied conditions, we need to identify commonly affected chromosomal regions subjected to copy number alterations together with the identification of differentially expressed list of genes in each condition. Transcription factor activity will be inferred from these regulated gene lists. Then, we will define TFs, for which the activity could be explained by an associative effect of both loci copy number alteration and gene expression levels of their coding genes. PPI networks could be mined, afterwards, using appropriate algorithms to find the significant module that connect those TFs together. This module could be viewed as the minimal connected network of TFs, the regulation of which is shared between the investigated conditions.

Telerobotic surgery has undergone remarkable advances over the past two decades, driven by the integration of sophisticated robotic platforms and modern communication technologies, thereby alleviating many constraints of conventional surgical procedures. Building upon previous studies that focused on individual specialties or specific innovations, this review provides a comprehensive and integrated perspective by tracing the evolution of the field and highlighting applications in gastroenterology, urology, neurology, and cardiology. Landmark achievements include the 2001 transatlantic remote cholecystectomy and the introduction of next-generation platforms such as the Hinotori surgical robot, enabling low-latency remote interventions.

Purpose: Non-adherence to inhaled medication poses a significant clinical and economic burden on patients with respiratory diseases. This narrative review provides an overview of key aspects of hair analysis, in general and specific for inhaled medications, and explores the potential of hair analysis as a novel tool to monitor adherence to inhaled medications.
Methods: PubMed searches were conducted to explore four aspects: (1) mechanisms of (inhaled) drug's systemic absorption and deposition in hair; (2) quantification of drugs in hair; (3) factors impacting (inhaled) drug hair concentrations; and (4) clinical studies assessing inhaled medication adherence through hair analysis.

We have developed a new true triaxial apparatus for rock deformation, featuring six servo-controlled loading rams capable of applying maximum stresses of 220 MPa along the two horizontal axes and 400 MPa along the vertical axis to cubic rock samples of 50 mm side. Samples are introduced into a steel vessel, allowing rock specimens to be subjected to confining pressures of up to 60 MPa. Pore fluid lines connected to two pump intensifiers enable high-precision permeability measurements along all three principal stress directions.

This patient had CNS demyelination in the context of stable undifferentiated connective tissue disease (sUCTD) and a relatively benign course despite minimal treatment. Her course is consistent with the course of similar patients described in the literature, which supports a relatively conservative approach to treatment in this group of patients.
