Molecules of 1,2-bis(4-bromophenyl)-1H-benzimidazole, C19H12Br2N2, (I), and 2-(4-bromophenyl)-1-(4-nitrophenyl)-1H-benzimidazole, C19H12BrN3O2, (II), are arranged in dimeric units through C-H...N and parallel-displaced π-stacking interactions favoured by the appropriate disposition of N- and C-bonded phenyl rings with respect to the mean benzimidazole plane. The molecular packing of the dimers of (I) and (II) arises by the concurrence of a diverse set of weak intermolecular C-X...D (X = H, NO2; D = O, π) interactions.

Hexaazaisowurtzitane (CL-20) is a high-energy-density compound with poor thermal stability, which hinders its application in composite energetic systems. A bi-interface structure of polydopamine-coated graphene oxide (GO@PDA) is shown to markedly improve thermal stability compared with pristine CL-20 and single-layer coatings. Reactive molecular dynamics simulations enhanced by a neural network potential (NNP) reveal that the delayed onset of decomposition arises from suppressed NO release and altered spatial density distribution, while interfacial -OH and -COOH groups consume intermediates, redirect decomposition pathways, and inhibit autocatalytic chain reactions.

A novel dual-mode sensing system integrating a magnetic core-shell CuFeO/Cu/MnO nanozyme with a stimuli-responsive agarose-deep eutectic solvent hydrogel (DES-Aga) is reported. The nanozyme exhibits exceptional oxidase-like activity, characterized by a low Michaelis constant (K = 0.14 mM) and high catalytic efficiency (V = 1.

Limited research has examined the relationships of co-exposure to air pollutants, temperature, and road traffic noise with chronic kidney disease (CKD) incidence and the interaction between PM and temperature. To address this gap, the present study explored these associations and interactions in Taiwan. A cohort of 3,041 older individuals (aged ≥55 years) was recruited in 2009 and followed until 2019.

High-sensitivity, multiparameter sensing is increasingly critical for environmental monitoring and electronics. Existing sensing platforms struggle to integrate precise, rapid, and stable monitoring of parts per billion-level hazardous gases and temperature within a single miniaturized device. This study developed a novel sensor based on two-dimensional (2D) indium selenide (InSe), complemented by first-principles density functional theory calculations elucidating the layer-dependent NO adsorption mechanism.

Background: Ageing in place has been promoted in the Netherlands to encourage optimal functional ability (FA) and independent living among older adults. FA is likely dependent on intrinsic capacity (IC), a composite measure of an individual's mental and physical capacities-and its interaction with the physical environment in which people live. This study aimed to examine the association between IC and FA, as well as to explore how the physical environment may modify this relationship in older adults.
