The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a telephonic outreach program to improve blood pressure (BP) control among patients with hypertension. The authors identified adults 18 years and older with uncontrolled BP within the previous 12 months. Patients received either an automated telephone call advising them to have a walk-in BP check (n=31,619) or usual care (n=33,154). The primary outcome was BP control at 4 weeks. Significantly more patients who received the intervention achieved BP control compared with the usual care group (32.5% vs 23.7%; P<.0001). Patients in the intervention arm with cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, or diabetes mellitus achieved better BP control. Older age, female sex, and having a household income above the median were associated with BP control. When designing quality-improvement interventions to increase BP control rates, health care organizations should consider utilizing an automated telephone outreach campaign.

Nurses lack frailty education and face practical challenges to assessment, which prevent effective interventions to address frailty. A quality improvement project sought to determine if frailty education and utilization of a renal frailty index tool impacts telephonic case management nursing care of patients by improving knowledge, perception, identification, and assessment of frailty, thereby prompting nursing interventions.

Background: Anxiety and depression are common in adolescents, but adolescents are often uninterested in formal mental health treatments or are unable to access them. Digital interventions can be delivered at scale to bridge critical gaps in mental health care but must address the needs and preferences of adolescents.
Objective: This study aims to conduct qualitative research involving adolescents aged 18 years to inform both the design of digital mental health interventions for adolescents broadly and new features and refinements to incorporate in an automated SMS text messaging intervention, Small Steps SMS, that was originally designed for young adults.

Paper-based colorimetric biosensors represent a promising class of low-cost diagnostic tools that do not require external instrumentation. However, their broader applicability is limited by the environmental concerns associated with conventional metal-based nanomaterials and the subjectivity of visual interpretation. To address these challenges, this study introduces a proof-of-concept platform-using CA19-9 as a model biomarker-that integrates naturally derived melanin nanoparticles (MNPs) with machine learning-based image analysis to enable environmentally sustainable and analytically robust colorimetric quantification.
