Far from being the uncritical believers young children have been portrayed as, children often exhibit skepticism toward the reality status of novel entities and events. This article reviews research on children's reality status judgments, testimony use, understanding of possibility, and religious cognition. When viewed from this new perspective it becomes apparent that when assessing reality status, children are as likely to doubt as they are to believe. It is suggested that immature metacognitive abilities are at the root of children's skepticism, specifically that an insufficient ability to evaluate the scope and relevance of one's knowledge leads to an overreliance on it in evaluating reality status. With development comes increasing ability to utilize a wider range of sources to inform reality status judgments.

Unlabelled: Neonatal status epilepticus (NSE) is associated with poor survival and adverse neurological outcomes. However, current definitions only partially account for the unique pathophysiology of the neonatal brain and the clinical context of acute symptomatic seizures. To address this gap, international efforts are underway to develop a more specific and context-appropriate definition for the neonatal period.

Introduction: Video games have been shown to offer psychological benefits to gamers during times of stress. One recent, salient example of a stress-inducing event was the COVID-19 pandemic, which created periods of social isolation and uncertainty on a global scale. The current study offers a glimpse into the lives of video gamers during the COVID-19 pandemic and the role of video games in navigating day-to-day stresses during a crisis.

Background: An unprecedented volume of interventional procedures has entered the pain medicine market, including many "advanced" interventional pain procedures. Given the rapid influx, there is concern that there is discordance between what is taught in pain medicine fellowship programs and done in post-graduate practice.
Objective: The goal of the study was to compare sales volumes of advanced procedure devices in academic versus non-academic practice settings to better understand the status quo of procedural practice patterns.

Due to sizeable anthropogenic CO emissions, China's transition towards carbon neutrality will reshape global CO emissions, offering insights into warming levels, extreme events, overshoot, tipping points, and regional climate impacts. Here we develop an interdisciplinary and multi-model framework integrating up-to-date emissions inventory and China's net-zero pathway to construct a reality-aligned, sector-specific combined scenario (SSP2-com) for greenhouse gases and air pollutants across global-to-regional, national-to-provincial, and multi-resolution-grid scales. SSP2-com projects CO₂ peaking in concentration globally by 2062, and achieving net-zero emissions by 2072, driven by Asia-Pacific-particularly China-via energy and industrial reductions.

Background: The trajectory of recovery following early rehabilitation after kidney transplantation remains poorly understood, particularly in relation to preoperative frailty. This study aimed to examine how physical function and health-related quality of life (HRQOL) recover over time after kidney transplantation with early rehabilitation. In particular, we assessed whether recovery patterns differed between robust and non-robust (pre-frail/frail) patients.
