Travestis are highly vulnerable to HIV infection in Brazil. We conducted a survey among 304 travestis using Respondent-Driven Sampling from August to December 2008. Travestis are young (49% <24 years), poorly educated (55% just elementary school), low social class (62% Class C-E), reside with families (49%) or friends/madam (22%), are victims of homophobia (91%) and violence (61%). They report early sexual debut (75% <14), many sexual partners, drug use during sex (43%), and unprotected sex (male partner, 47%, both male and female partners, 50%). Sex work is common (82%, 59% >10 partners last six months) and relatively low cost (median=US$24). A majority report testing for HIV (69%), and report high prevalence (12% disclosed a positive result). Almost all the respondents refused to test in the study. Interventions, targeted to both travestis and to the general community about sexual discrimination, are necessary.

Introduction: Black, Latine, and Caribbean (BLC) sexual and gender minorities (SGM) face structural HIV inequities. Sociocentric interventions may address these barriers, but it is unclear if respondent-driven sampling (RDS) can recruit existing BLC SGM friendship groups or if sociocentric HIV prevention interventions are feasible.
Methods: Using an exploratory mixed-methods design (August/2022-January/2024, New York, NY), we recruited participants into a sociocentric RDS group (sRDS) or an individual-level peer referral (PR) group, with qualitative interviews drawn from quantitative participants.
Background: HIV and Hepatitis C (HCV) are blood borne infections (BBIs) that remain a significant cause of global morbidity and mortality among people who inject drugs (PWID). UNAIDS and WHO have set goals for the elimination of viral hepatitis and HIV as major public health threats by 2030. To achieve these targets, innovative strategies are required among marginalized populations such as PWID, especially in resource-limited countries where coverage of harm reduction services is often limited.

Background: The HIV continuum of care for men who have sex with men (MSM) in South Africa remains inadequately characterised, hindering the tracking of progress towards ending the HIV epidemic. We estimated HIV prevalence and care continuum indicators for MSM in three South African cities.
Methods And Findings: MSM were recruited via respondent-driven sampling (RDS) methods in Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Mahikeng.
