Ultrasound speed microscope was developed for quantitative measurement of ultrasonic parameters of soft tissues. The system can measure the ultrasonic attenuation and sound speed in the tissue using fast Fourier transform of a single pulsed wave instead of burst waves used in conventional acoustic microscopy. Prostate biopsy tissues were formalin-fixed and sectioned approximately 5-6 μm in thickness. They were mounted on glass slides without cover slips. The ultrasonic transducer was mechanically scanned over the specimen. Attenuation was 1.42 ± 0.08 dB/mm and the sound speed was 1584 ± 12 m/s in prostatic cancer while both values were 1.86 ± 0.14 dB/mm and 1614 ± 30 m/s in normal prostate. The basic measurements of ultrasonic properties would help understanding the interpretation of clinical echography in diagnosis of prostate cancer.

Serum prostate-specific antigen is a frequently employed biomarker in the diagnosis and risk stratification of prostate cancer; however, it is known for its low predictive accuracy for disease progression. Aims: We aimed to analyze CD63, a cell surface protein that has been associated with tumor aggressiveness in several cancers, including breast, colorectal, and lung cancer, as well as melanoma, in prostate cancer.
Methods: CD63 expression was analyzed immunohistochemically in a cohort of primary prostate cancers from 281 patients. The results were correlated with clinico-pathologic parameters, including biochemical recurrence.

Material And Methods: Two hundred eight male bladder cancer patients were grouped into 98 RC followed by 43-W, 31-Y, and 23-IC in comparison to 110 PRC followed by 35-W, 37-Y, and 38-IC. The functional voiding outcomes were determined by detailed patients' interview and urodynamic studies (UDS).

Background And Objective: The apex-to-base transperineal (TP) prostate biopsy needle trajectory may better sample the anterior prostate than the transrectal approach. There is evidence that African American men are more likely to harbor anterior tumors, suggesting that TP biopsy would result in better detection in these men. We performed a secondary retrospective analysis of prospective randomized trial data to determine whether African American race is associated with anterior tumor location and better detection with TP biopsy.
