Background/purpose: Psychological factors have been implicated in the etiology of idiopathic environmental illness in many studies. Few studies have ever reported psychiatric morbidity among individuals with electromagnetic hypersensitivity. We aimed to estimate the prevalence and identify the associated factors of self-reported electromagnetic field sensitivity (SREMFS) in adults of Taiwan.
Methods: A total of 1251 adults selected from a nationwide Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing system received a telephone survey about the perception of risk from various environmental agents and their effects on health and well-being.
Results: The estimated prevalence of people with SREMFS was 13.3 % (95% confidence interval: 11.2-15.3). People aged >65 years were associated with a lower risk of reporting sensitivity to electromagnetic fields, whereas people with a very poor self-reported health status, those who were unable to work, and those who had psychiatric morbidity were associated with a higher risk of having SREMFS.
Conclusion: The prevalence of SREMFS in the general population of Taiwan is higher than that reported in western countries. People with psychiatric morbidity are more likely to report sensitivity to electromagnetic fields. The cross-sectional design precludes the causal inference of all identified correlates and electromagnetic field sensitivity.

Background: Charcot foot is a debilitating complication of peripheral neuropathy and is primarily associated with diabetes, leading to structural damage, ulceration, and osteomyelitis. Pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy is a promising treatment modality for wound healing and bone metabolism.
Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of PEMF therapy in promoting bone growth and ulcer healing in patients with Charcot foot ulcers.

Introduction: This study explores high-impedance surface (HIS) metamaterial shields for enhancing the transmit field in whole-body MRI at 7 T. We studied the possibility of placing a metamaterial layer between the gradient coil and bore liner using electromagnetic simulations to evaluate B and SAR efficiency across different impedances.
Materials And Methods: Simulations were performed in three stages, first metamaterial design and characterization, then single-element dipole simulations with a homogenous phantom, and finally, simulations including a four-element arrays with a virtual body model, including the whole scanner geometry.

With the increasing demand for wind energy in the electric power generation industry, optimizing robust and efficient control strategies is essential for a wind energy conversion system (WECS). In this regard, this study proposes a novel hybrid control strategy for wind power systems directly coupled to a permanent-magnet synchronous generator (PMSG). The contribution of this work is to propose a control strategy design based on a combination of the nonlinear Backstepping approach for system stabilization according to Lyapunov theory and the application of artificial neural network to maximize energy harvesting regardless of wind speed fluctuations.

Transient electronics that can degrade after fulfilling their designed functionalities offer transformative potentials in biomedical implants (eliminating secondary surgeries), ecofriendly consumer electronics (reducing e-waste), and secure systems. However, the development of reliable transient energy supplies remains a critical challenge, thus limiting their widespread implementation. Among various solutions, wireless power supplies via near-field inductive coupling stand out as particularly promising candidates.

With the rapid advancement of communication technologies, issues of electromagnetic pollution and electromagnetic compatibility have become increasingly severe, heightening the demand for high-performance electromagnetic wave absorption materials. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have flourished in this field owing to their chemical tunability, high porosity, tailored topological structures, and functionality. MOF-derived composites exhibit diverse loss mechanisms and heterogeneous structures, achieving lightweight, broadband, and highly efficient absorption.
