The title compound, C(21)H(33)BrO(3), an inter-mediate in the synthesis of the neuromuscular blocking agent rocuronium bromide, contains two independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit, which have almost identical geometries: in both mol-ecules, the steroidal rings A, B and C have slightly flattened chair conformations and ring D assumes a half-chair conformation. In the crystal, O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and weak C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Br inter-actions help to establish the packing.

Background: Evidence from multiple pilots and post-introduction scale-up initiatives have demonstrated that self-administered subcutaneous depot-medroxyprogesterone acetate (DMPA-SC) has potential to improve contraceptive continuation rates and expand contraceptive access to populations with limited utilization of facility-based health services. Only a few of these studies have been conducted in South Asian countries, and none where most contraceptive use is of non-hormonal methods that require limited to no contact with the health system, leaving policymakers in countries like Pakistan with limited context-specific evidence to guide decisions on whether, how, and for whom to introduce DMPA-SC.
Methods: A prospective cohort study will be conducted in 41 health facilities and surrounding communities in Punjab, Pakistan.

Fungal diseases in agricultural crops cause economic losses, with chemical control being the conventional method to manage them. However, this approach negatively impacts both the environment and human health. This study focused on endophytic fungi isolated from the roots of Ceratozamia mirandae in the Mexican locality of Juan Sabines (Villa Corzo, Chiapas).

Managing Euschistus heros is increasingly challenging due to insecticide resistance, limited available molecules, and environmental and health concerns. Here, we synthesized and evaluated mucochloric acid derivatives as alternative tools for controlling this pest. We assessed the selectivity of these molecules toward the pollinators bees Apis mellifera and Partamona helleri and conducted in silico predictions for the interactions of these molecules with receptors for γ-aminobutyric acid (GABARs) and nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs), and the enzyme acetylcholinesterases (AChE) of E.

Background: Previous studies involving cleanup via conventional solid-phase extraction (SPE) materials to overcome matrix effects for the polar organophosphonate and -phosphinate pesticides glyphosate, glufosinate, ethephon, fosetyl, and their various metabolites often showed limitations due to the existence of various matrix compounds in plant commodities with similar polarity. To overcome existing drawbacks, we utilized the unique selectivity provided by metal oxides as SPE materials. These were exploited in a novel automated online SPE-LC-MS/MS method which allowed analyte-specific trapping in the presence of excessive amounts of matrix compounds as typically contained in extracts of the Quick Polar Pesticides (QuPPe) method.
