The last several decades have seen a large increase in knowledge of the underlying biological mechanisms that serve learning and memory. The insights gleaned from neurobiological and cognitive neuroscientific experimentation in humans and in animal models have identified many of the processes at the molecular, cellular, and systems levels that occur during learning and the formation, storage, and recall of memories. Moreover, with the advent of noninvasive technologies to monitor patterns of neural activity during various forms of human cognition, the efficacy of different strategies for effective teaching can be compared. Considerable insight has also been developed as to how to most effectively engage these processes to facilitate learning, retention, recall, and effective use and application of the learned information. However, this knowledge has not systematically found its way into the medical education process. Thus, there are considerable opportunities for the integration of current knowledge about the biology of learning with educational strategies and curricular design. By teaching medical students in ways that use this knowledge, there is an opportunity to make medical education easier and more effective. The authors present 10 key aspects of learning that they believe can be incorporated into effective teaching paradigms in multiple ways. They also present recommendations for applying the current knowledge of the neurobiology of learning throughout the medical education continuum.

Objective: To evaluate the clinical characteristics, social deprivation, insurance coverage, and medication use across regional subsets of patients with psoriatic arthritis (PsA) in the US.
Methods: A cross-sectional study of PsA patients in the Rheumatology Informatics System for Effectiveness (RISE) registry between January 2020 and March2023 was conducted. Distribution of high disease activity (HDA - RAPID3>12), high comorbidity (RxRisk ≥90 percentile), high Area Deprivation Index (ADI ≥80), insurance coverage, prednisone ≥10mg daily, and all DMARD therapies across geographic regions were evaluated.

Anxiety disorders are the most prevalent mental illness in Australia and are more common in women relative to men, as well as transgender and gender diverse people relative to cisgender people. Sex and gender differences in anxiety prevalence are likely driven by a combination of factors including differential exposure to different types of stressors and trauma, gendered enculturation of different coping responses and perceived stigma of mental illness, differences in medical comorbidities, and differences in symptom presentations. The established impact of gonadal hormone changes on anxiety risk and symptom presentation across the female lifespan underscore the need for sex- and gender-responsive management of anxiety disorders.

Non-obstructive azoospermia (NOA), characterized by impaired spermatogenesis and the complete absence of sperm in the ejaculate, represents one of the most severe forms of male infertility. A 71-year-old black male with a history of hypertension, dyslipidemia, type 2 diabetes, history of bladder cancer status-post resection now in remission, history of multiple transient ischemic attacks, and coronary artery disease (CAD) presented with non-exertional substernal chest pain radiating to the left arm, accompanied by shortness of breath and nausea. Initial evaluation revealed elevated troponins and nonspecific electrocardiogram changes, consistent with non-ST elevation myocardial infarction. Coronary angiography demonstrated severe multivessel disease, including critical left main stenosis.
