A search for quark compositeness in the form of quark contact interactions, based on hadronic jet pairs (dijets) produced in proton-proton collisions at √s=7 TeV, is described. The data sample of the study corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 2.9 pb(-1) collected with the CMS detector at the LHC. The dijet centrality ratio, which quantifies the angular distribution of the dijets, is measured as a function of the invariant mass of the dijet system and is found to agree with the predictions of the standard model. A statistical analysis of the data provides a lower limit on the energy scale of quark contact interactions. The sensitivity of the analysis is such that the expected limit is 2.9 TeV; because the observed value of the centrality ratio at high invariant mass is below the expectation, the observed limit is 4.0 TeV at the 95% confidence level.

Background: Cancer-related cognitive impairment (CRCI) is prevalent among patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), often manifesting prior to treatment and frequently remaining unrecognized.
Purpose: This study aims to assess CRCI in DLBCL patients before treatment by utilizing 18F-FDG PET/CT metabolic networks to facilitate early detection and intervention.
Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study involving 77 participants from our hospital's PET-CT center, which included 15 healthy controls and 62 DLBCL patients (29 in stages I + II and 33 in stages III + IV).

Nodes that play strategic roles in networks are called critical or influential nodes. For example, in an epidemic, we can control the infection spread by isolating critical nodes; in marketing, we can use certain nodes as the initial spreaders aiming to reach the largest part of the network, or they can be selected for removal in targeted attacks to maximise the fragmentation of the network. In this study, we focus on critical node detection in temporal networks.

Due to their ability to express higher-order structures, hypergraphs are becoming a central topic in network analysis. In this paper, we propose a parameter-free clique centrality index for all the hypergraphs, including hypergraphs involving singleton hyperedges and disconnected hypergraphs. We construct a hereditary class by introducing the null simplex into the simplicial complex of a hypergraph.

Background: Drug refractory focal epilepsy (DRFE) often gives rise to structural and functional damage in the brain accompanied by neuronal activity and cerebral vascular hemodynamics changes, which may result in neurovascular decoupling. However, neuroimaging evidence on neurovascular decoupling remains scarce. This study aimed to assess the manifestation of neurovascular coupling (NVC) in childhood DRFE using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) and arterial spin labeling imaging (ASL).

This study compares the predictive accuracy of sexual reoffending using dynamic risk factors' sum score (mechanical totals) and nodewise predictability, a model accounting for their interrelationships. Dynamic risk factors of North American men ( = 5,315) were measured by the STABLE-2007. The area under the curve (AUC) of both methods was determined by splitting the dataset at a [20:80] ratio, repeated over 300 iterations with random training and test samples.
