Calcium substituted trimagnesium phosphate with the general formula Ca(x)Mg((3-x))(PO(4))(2) (0 < x < 1.5) was synthesized by calcination of powder mixtures with the appropriate stoichiometry and reacted with 3.5 M diammonium hydrogenphosphate solution to form a cementitious matrix of magnesium ammonium phosphate hexahydrate (struvite). The degree of ionic substitution was shown to influence physical cement properties; clinically suitable cement formulations with setting times in the range 5-15 min and compressive strengths of >50 MPa were obtained for x ≤ 0.75 together with a grinding time ≥ 1 h and a powder to liquid ratio ≥ 2.5 g/ml. The cement cytocompatibility was investigated by culturing human osteoblast cell line MG63 on cement surfaces demonstrating pronounced cell growth during 13 days cultivation.

The challenge of photocatalytic hydrogen production has motivated a targeted search for MXenes as a promising class of materials for this transformation because of their high mobility and high light absorption. High-throughput screening has been widely used to discover new materials, but the relatively high cost limits the chemical space for searching MXenes. We developed a deep-learning-enabled high-throughput screening approach that identified 14 stable candidates with suitable band alignment for water splitting from 23 857 MXenes.

Streptococcus mutans, a key cause of dental caries, is not treated by conventional toothpaste, brushing, flossing, or antiseptic mouthwashes. This necessitates the development of enriched toothpaste. Cyanobacteria-derived phycoerythrin (PE) has antioxidant and antibacterial properties.

Bacoside A (BCA), a triterpenoid saponin isolated from Bacopa monnieri, exhibits diverse pharmacological properties, including neuroprotective, hepatoprotective, anti-stress, anti-inflammatory, and anti-ulcer effects. In the present study, BCA demonstrates pronounced anticancer activity against K562 chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) cells by modulating autophagy-apoptosis dynamics. BCA induces dose- and time-dependent cytotoxicity in K562 cells while sparing normal human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (hPBMCs) and Vero cells, indicating therapeutic selectivity.

This study aimed to evaluate the antidepressant potential of Nitazoxanide (NTZ), an antiprotozoal drug with known anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties, in a chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS)-induced mice model of depression. NTZ was administered at doses of 75, 150, and 300 mg/kg, and its effects were assessed through a series of behavioral tests, including the forced swim test, tail suspension test, actophotometer test, and social interaction test. NTZ treatment at 150 and 300 mg/kg significantly improved behavioral and biochemical outcomes, relieving depressive-like symptoms and restoring neurochemical balance.

This study investigates how hydrophobic and hydrophilic modifications at the C-terminus of the base peptide, KFEFEFKFK (KbpK), affect the hydrogel macroscopic properties. By the incorporation of phenylalanine (F, hydrophobic) and lysine (K, hydrophilic) residues, four variants, KbpK-K, KbpK-F, KbpK-KF, and KbpK-FK, were designed and evaluated. pH-concentration phase diagrams and Fourier transform infrared confirmed clear links showing how peptide hydrophobicity and charge influence β-sheet formation and macroscopic phase behavior.
