Article Abstract

The vibrational frequencies of three substituted 4-thioflavones in the ground state have been calculated using the Hartree-Fock and density functional method (B3LYP) with 6-31G* and 6-31+G** basis sets. The structural analysis shows that there exists H-bonding in the selected compounds and the hydrogen bond lengths increase with the augment of the conjugate parameters of the substituent group on the benzene ring. A complete vibrational assignment aided by the theoretical harmonic wavenumber analysis was proposed. The theoretical spectrograms for FT-IR spectra of the title compounds have been constructed. In addition, it is noted that the selected compounds show significant activity against Shigella flexniri. Several electronic properties and thermodynamic parameters were also calculated.

Spin Qubit Properties of the Boron-Vacancy/Carbon Defect in the Two-Dimensional Hexagonal Boron Nitride.

J Phys Condens Matter

September 2025

Department of Physics, Tuskegee University, 1200 West Montgomery Road, 106 Chappie James, Tuskegee, Alabama, 36088-1920, UNITED STATES.

Spin qubit defects in two-dimensional materials have a number of advantages over those in three-dimensional hosts including simpler technologies for the defect creation and control, as well as qubit accessibility. In this work, we select the VBCB defect in the hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) as a possible optically controllable spin qubit and explain its triplet ground state and neutrality. In this defect a boron vacancy is combined with a carbon dopant substituting the closest boron atom to the vacancy.

Comparative analysis of machine learning based dissolved oxygen predictions in the Yellow River Basin: The role of diverse environmental predictors.

Dissolved oxygen (DO) is a key water quality indicator reflecting river health. Modeling and understanding the spatiotemporal dynamics of DO and its influencing factors are crucial for effective river management. Machine learning (ML) models have gained popularity in water quality prediction; however, their accuracy strongly depends on the predictor variables.

Physical and functional effects of substituting coevolved residues from Ω-loop C of yeast Iso-1-cytochrome c into human cytochrome c.

Omega loop C (residues 40-57) of cytochrome c (Cytc) is a common location for naturally-occurring variants of human Cytc that cause thrombocytopenia 4 (THC4). These variants are characterized by significant increases in the intrinsic peroxidase activity of Cytc, which appears to be linked to increased dynamics in Ω-loop D (residues 71-85). The mutations in Ω-loop C enhance the dynamics of Ω-loop D by decreasing the acid dissociation constant of the trigger group (pK) of the alkaline conformational transition.

Covering upto 2025Rotenoids are angular hybrid isoflavonoids mainly characterized by an additional six-membered ring between the B and C rings of flavonoids. The extra ring introduces further chemical diversity to the densely substituted precursors, isoflavonoids, making rotenoids a significant group of compounds within the plant kingdom. The Pet Bereavement Questionnaire (PBQ) assesses grief after the death of a companion animal. A German translation is lacking. Participants (N = 301, aged 18-63 years, 77% women) responded to an online survey containing the German version of the PBQ, further measures of grief severity, symptoms of depression and attachment to animals.
