Reported here is a 21-year-old female with isolated contracture of the rectus femoris muscle. Its possible relation to breech positioning, and the role of sonography for its diagnosis and close follow-up are discussed in the light of the relevant literature.

Purpose: CL316,243 (CL), a beta 3 adrenergic receptor (B3-AR) agonist has 'exercise mimetic' effects in adipose tissue (AT). CL may also positively affect skeletal muscle (SM), yet the role of estrogen receptor beta (ERβ) in mediating SM-specific effects of CL is not known. We investigated the effects of CL on SM metabolism, as well as the role played by ERβ.

Background: In patients with moderate COPD, response to pulmonary rehabilitation including exercise training varies according to the presence of peripheral muscle fatigue (pMF) of quadriceps. This study investigates the role of pMF in predicting pulmonary rehabilitation outcomes in more severe COPD patients who have already developed chronic respiratory failure (COPD-CRF).
Methods: A analysis of a prospective randomised controlled trial was performed at Istituti Clinici Scientifici Maugeri Lumezzane (Brescia, Italy), involving 30 COPD-CRF patients undergoing a pulmonary rehabilitation programme comprising 20 endurance training sessions.

Introduction: This study examined the impacts of different negative pressure cupping therapies (PCT) on pain relief, functional recovery, and inflammatory regulation in delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) after high-intensity exercise, with the aim of clarifying the dose-effect relationship.
Methods: In this study, 55 healthy male participants aged 18-25 were selected and divided into 5 groups: the control group (CTR; = 11) and NPCT groups at different levels (-25 kPa, -35 kPa, -45 kPa, and -55 kPa; = 11 in each group). A high-intensity protocol, which included 6 sets of lunges, squats, and squat jumps, was adopted to induce DOMS in the quadriceps femoris.

Background: The effect of supplementation of essential amino acids (EAAs) in knee osteoarthritis (OA) remains unclear. This study aimed to evaluate whether supplementation with EAA improves pain, patient-reported outcome measures, gait function, and quadriceps muscle volume in patients undergoing conservative treatment for knee OA.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted on outpatients undergoing physical therapy from April 2024 to March 2025.

Introduction: There are limited studies on the long-term effects of COVID-19 on skeletal muscle morphology and architecture. Therefore, this study aims to address this gap by assessing the effects of prior COVID-19 infection on quadriceps muscle architecture and tendon-aponeurosis complex (TAC) properties over a one-year period, comparing three cohorts: individuals with moderate COVID-19, individuals with severe COVID-19, and a healthy control group.
Methods: Seventy participants were included in the study and allocated to three groups: moderate COVID-19 (n = 22), severe COVID-19 (n = 18), and control (n = 30).
