Background: Between November 2023 and March 2024, coastal Kenya experienced another wave of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infections detected through our continued genomic surveillance. Herein, we report the clinical and genomic epidemiology of SARS-CoV-2 infections from 179 individuals (a total of 185 positive samples) residing in the Kilifi Health and Demographic Surveillance System (KHDSS) area (~ 900 km).
Methods: We analyzed genetic, clinical, and epidemiological data from SARS-CoV-2 positive cases across pediatric inpatient, health facility outpatient, and homestead community surveillance platforms.

Background: Physical inactivity, impaired physical mobility and poor mental health are common in the older population and increasing as the population ages. We examined the relationships between physical activity, physical mobility, and mental health in the general population of older adults.
Methods: The study is based on 12 959 men and women aged 70 years or older answering a survey questionnaire sent to a random population sample in Mid-Sweden in 2022 (response rate 66%).

Importance: Significant advancements have been made in the management of sickle cell disease (SCD); an inherited blood disorder most prevalent among African Americans. While chronic pain is a hallmark of SCD and has been the primary focus of treatment, contemporary literature highlights the potential presence of developmental issues related to speech, language, neurocognitive, and auditory abilities that are often overlooked in SCD management.
Observations: This paper explores the spectrum of communication-related challenges that specifically affect children with SCD and fall within the scope of practice for speech-language pathologists (SLPs) and audiologists (AUDs).

Autoimmune diseases (AIDs), defined by irregularities in immune system function, pose a substantial health challenge worldwide, impacting millions with persistent and frequently debilitating conditions. Conventional treatments, such as glucocorticoid-based immunosuppressive therapies, are associated with notable drawbacks and limitations. In response to these difficulties, recent scientific efforts have increasingly focused on natural compounds as potential therapeutic agents.
