Pompe disease (PD), an autosomal recessive lysosomal disorder, results in glycogen accumulation in muscle cells, leading to progressive muscle weakness and respiratory insufficiency. Newborn screening (NBS) has improved outcomes for infantile-onset PD by enabling early diagnosis and intervention with enzyme replacement therapy. NBS also identifies late-onset PD (LOPD) cases, wherein children have a wide clinical spectrum and may remain asymptomatic for years, placing families in uncertainty as "patients-in-waiting.

Objectives: Family caregivers (FCGs) may experience numerous psychosocial and practical challenges with interpersonal relationships, mental health, and finances both before and after their care recipient (CR) dies. The specific challenges affecting rural FCGs who often have limited access to palliative care services, transitional care, and other community resources are not well understood. The purpose of this paper is to quantify the challenges rural FCGs experienced immediately before the death of a CR and continuing into the bereavement period.

Purpose: The influence of digital communication on adolescent psychosocial development is a growing public health concern. This qualitative multi-country study, initiated by the United Nations Children's Fund, explored adolescents' perceptions of how social media, direct chat or message services, and interactive online gaming impact their mental health and well-being across diverse sociocultural and economic settings.
Methods: Seventy-one focus group discussions on mental health were held with adolescents aged 12-19 years in 13 countries across the Americas, Europe, Africa, and Asia from February to June 2021.

Background: Social media platforms, such as Facebook, provide a dynamic public space where users of various racial and ethnic backgrounds share content related to identity, politics, and other social issues. These platforms allow racially minoritized groups to both challenge racial silencing and express cultural pride. At the same time, they expose users to racism and stereotypes that can negatively affect their mental and physical health through psychosocial stress.
